It seems active speakers are getting all the love recently. So for fun, what are your favorite passive mains? If possible, list favorite cheap, medium price, and skies the limit. I'll let you decide what price range for each

Assuming we're not talking about passive line array boxes I'll go with:
Cheap: Yamaha Club Series
Mid Level: JBL SRX Series
Expensive: EAW KF650
Cheap: Yamaha Club Series
Mid Level: JBL SRX Series

If you can find them, old Audio Centron 1510H with EVs. Great sounding cabs at low and high volumes.
You are correct. I guess I should have mentioned scale, since live sound could be anything from a small backyard BBQ to a huge stadium.
So let's say small to medium bars/clubs. From 50 up to 250 people. I find any larger than that and they probably have an installed PA. If you want to specify how many, just say so.
Although I do like the idea of showing up at a pub with a huge line array and asking where the forklift entrance is for the speakers
bearhart.... I am having problem finding a new price on these. Just curious as to the price range. I have to admit I have never heard of Klipsch until now.
I don't think they are in the PA business anymore. If you want cheap go Yamaha club. If you want great go JBL SRX. Personally I quit using Passive 10 years ago and never looked back. Powered speakers is the way to go now days.
Electro voice tour x is the best sounding "club" sized system I ve ever heard. Put an aphex aural exciter in front of them and you ll have a beautiful sounding mid priced rig.

We are currently running some old Peavey PV15s. I don't know if it is because they are old and tired, but they have no highs. Nothing. We play songs between sets and it is painful to listen to them.

Seriously if they sound that bad then you are not doing your band any favors by using them. A set of Yamaha clubs will sound alot better.

It's entirely possible you need to replace the diaphragms in one or both of the tweeters. They're cheap and it takes 15 minutes to do...there's lots of online info but I don't recommend putting "replace blown diaphragm" into google.
I also think the horns are blown, but the mains are the only part of the PA that I don't own. The owner is perfectly happy with them.I went from no PA to most of a PA in a year and a bit. I need to pay off some of that before I even think about buying more. And next I will probably buy a compressor to protect any investment in mains
I've been using Peavey SP2g main cabs full range, or with subs, since '95. They sound great, but I'm getting tired of lifting them. Thinking about building some BFM cabs.
Yeah those are in the ballpark of 90 lbs each. I don't think there's a speaker stand I would trust to safely hold 90 lbs at a gig.
Cheap - Yamaha Club (but heavey). Peavy SP series.
Medium - Yorkville Elites
Pricey(ish) - EV QRX212's (our bands mains)
Something to consider...if you can't make a CD sound good through them...a band is in BIG trouble.
