Favorite Phaser?

I have a bit of a phaser addiction:

Phase 90
Phase 45
Ross Phaser
Small Stone gen 1
Small stone gen 2
Maestro PS-1A
Subdecay Quasar
Jet Phaser Clone from make sounds loudly
Phase 90 clone

Phasers vary and have a wide range of sonic signatures so it's really hard to recommend one specific sound but if its versatility you want I would go with the Subdecay Quasar.

What are your thoughts on the Quasar so far? Sadly it's way out of my budget unless I sell some stuff but I hope to try one eventually, they look really sweet drool

I have the quasar for several years, mine is actually the baby quasar and I like it a lot. You should be able to pick one up for under $100

My favorite is my phase 90 clone I built but that's only because I voiced it for a very specific sound.

I tend to like pedals with less knobs but the baby quasar can definitey do way more than a phase 45/90/100 ever thought about

If you want to go over the top, I'll recommend the Subdecay Quasar DLX. It can do almost everything from subtle to over the top, you can switch between 4, 6 or 8 stages, etc... but it may take you a while to find a setting that sounds good in the mix. There are a lot of possibilities here. Mind that I'm talking about the V1, there is a Mark II out now which omits the stage selector switch. Subdecay claim they made it simpler to make it easier to sit in the mix. It's hard to find the Mk.I and over your current budget, but it's worth it.

If you want a 'one trick pony' / set-it-and-forget-it type phaser that sounds good with almost every other pedal, the HBE Psilocybe is a good bet. It sounds very good combined with dirt. I love it especially with the Darkglass B3K or the 3Leaf Audio (You're) Doom. I think they can be found in the $125'ish range if you're patient and not too keen on a mint-condition pedal, cosmetically.

Within your budget, the Phase 90 is a classic and although I didn't actually play the Phase 100, it seems people like it on bass. Both those pedals should be easy to find under $100.

I've always been more of a flanger or chorus man myself. But the phaser on the Mobius was pretty awesome. I rock the Boss MD500 now and like it's phaser just as much though. The Source Audio Orbitals phasers were pretty great too.

I've been very happy with the General Guitar Gadgets P-45 (MXR Phase 45 replica) that my wife got me for Christmas a few years ago (and I DIY/LOVE kits), as I've always found the Phase 90 to be a little "too much" (probably a first for me- saying something has "too much" of something!).

I had an original script P-90, as well as a Mutron Bi-Phase (Google THAT bad boy!) way back when I didn't know anything about effects and such (and could barely tune a bass!).

I regret selling both off (better yet, Ebay price the Bi-phase- II can tell you that I let it go for less than a tenth of what it would get in this day's market, BLAH)...

Happy with my P-45

As mentioned earlier, the Roland jet phaser. I used to own one. I'm kicking myself for selling it. It was awesome!
