Favorite Phaser?

I like these...

When I was shopping for a phaser awhile back I tried everything I could get my hands on.

I wound up with both a Phase 90 and a Hotone Phaze. IMO those two sounded the best with bass.

The Hotone is all analog; and has a rate, depth, and resonance control, plus something called a "shine" switch, which adds a hint of shimmer and additional highs. It has much of that smooth MXR Phase 90 character. But with more parameters to play around with. And being so tiny, it's cute looking as anything.

It runs about $90 street for a new one. Which makes it inexpensive enough to consider getting two, or using it with the phaser you already have. That would let you do some complex dual phasing setups without the expense of an all-in-one dual phaser.

I haven't seen any on the used market, so I have no idea what a used one would go for.

I currently have a EH small stone on my bass pedal board and a Retrosonic Phaser on my guitar pedal board. When I get time, I am going to switch them to see if I am missing out on something huge. Until then I still have to decide between 4 envelope filters, 3 distortion pedals, and 2 chorus pedals........and a partridge in a pear tree, I believe. I'm swamped!

I have a bit of a phaser addiction:

Phase 90
Phase 45
Ross Phaser
Small Stone gen 1
Small stone gen 2
Maestro PS-1A
Subdecay Quasar
Jet Phaser Clone from make sounds loudly
Phase 90 clone

Phasers vary and have a wide range of sonic signatures so it's really hard to recommend one specific sound but if its versatility you want I would go with the Subdecay Quasar.

+1 for the SA lunar phaser.
I don't have much experience with phasers, but researched for a while. For the price and all the options with the lunar, it was a no brainer for me. If you really wanted, you can have 6 presets with phaser, flanger, vibe, resonator, chorus and other preset options that you can tailor to your needs.
