Having been raised in Pittsburgh, a huge Pirate fan from the 60’s on, it was well known in the Burgh that Doc was a bit of a “different” sort. There were also rumors of drug use with the team in the 80’s and it was a running joke that the Pirates ran the biggest (square footage) drug store in the nation out of three rivers stadium.
Considering the Doc’s legend takes place during the height of the counter culture movement of the times, when the story broke, it was like ‘it figures”. LOL.
BTW that new park in Pitt is pretty sweet.
