Tony was a great player and a really sweet guy. He played tight-as-hell thrash metal bass with Whiplash as well. RIP Tony!

I almost hate to say it but you know who was really good in their beginning? Mike Dirnt of Green day. I was a teen in the 90's and partly learned to play bass along Kerplunk, Dookie and Insomniac. I don't like the band or even those records anymore, but there's some pretty good basslines on those... And yes, i know this is pop punk. But let's face it, bands like the Ramones or Buzzcocks were basically pop punk too

Actual favorite would probably have to be Simonon though.

Otherwise, some of my favorite bassists started in punk but aren't know for punk. Like Simon Gallup.
