After learning a bunch of Ramones tunes and studying what Dee Dee brought to the stage. I think that dude epitomized punk bass playing. Non stop energy while on lots of heroin, all down strokes, totally in the pocket, for hours on end. Try it. Without the heroin of course. The heroin makes it harder.

I'm tellin ya, that music was in Dee Dee's bones . Seems like the simplest stuff to play. Till you try to do it, completely in the pocket, all down strokes, at the tempos they did it, for an hour or 2 straight.

I played a few shows, and released a split seven inch with Anti-flag way back. The original bass player Andy, I think his name was, was one of the most amazing punk bass players I've ever seen live. Jumping around like an absolute spazz and never missing a note. Really cool guy and really fun to watch/listen to.
