Favorite strings

We all have our personal tastes in sound, look and feel for our strings. I'm using D'addario XL's on my basses. I'm currently in the works of getting my 7 string made and I'm curious on what else is out there for good string brands. I like the brighter sounding strings, I dont like strings that have to deep of a tone. I like them to have a slight piano sound to them. Whats good fellow bassist, what do you prefer?

SS Rotosound rounds for me (at least for the first two weeks). Got a set of Rotosound Nexus strings coming in and if they can give me a similar tone that lasts longer, they may be my new go to strings. Kind of a big switch going from stainless steel to coated nickel strings but I'm looking forward to the change, hopefully they'll also be a bit easier on the fingertips and frets.

For rounds I like, in order: Rotosound Swingbass, Ernie Ball Slinkies, Elixers, and Darco

For flats I like GHS Precision Flats and Rotosound 77's

I like too many different strings. I guess I need to buy more basses so I can use them all at at the same time. :D

Pianny tone?

D'Addario half rounds are close enough for me. But I much prefer D'Addario Chromes in a light gauge. For thunderous tone, the DR Flats on a jazz with ceramic pups does nicely.

That being said I am really partial to Webstrings's Detroit Flats. Same basic feel and sound as the DR's but much less tension than the DR's...and on my P they just scream P bass vintage/motown vibe and sound fantastic on 60's rock songs....

SO I guess my top 2 are the Chromes and the Webstrings Detroit Flats....

You're talking about the RotoSound PSD 99s, right? I have a set, waited for months for them to get shipped, and I haven't put them on yet, I'm scared to, I've had them 2 months, I don't want to cut the string too short, and then I have to put the bal lon the strings myself, I think I'll find someone who knows what they're doing to do it, and I'm slightly disappointed too, I thought they had black silk, but just red...
