Our trumpeter has a massive assortment of percussion bits and pieces including a Shekere -
We were playing a festival gig with lots of families, he's got the shekere going at about head height, then manages to over shake, catches himself in the face, sunglasses knocked askew and the lens knocked out of on side of the glasses. There was no mistaking what had happened, so he very quietly kneels down with the Shekere still in front of his face, gets the glasses off and carries on hoping noone noticed...
The best part about it is, everyone noticed - and whenever the shekere has been used for subsequent gigs, there's always someone in the audience who tells this story, and with all the gestures and facial contortions with the smashed glasses etc means you know _exactly_ what story they're telling, which subsequently cracks us up mid-song
