Favourite bass fuzz pedals?

Easy question, what are some of your favourite bass fuzz pedals, and why?

I'm trying to see what the current "top of the pops" in the bass fuzz world are as I'm after something kewl to add to the rig.





If someone says "use the search", you fail.
I get so tired of people pointing others to 4 and 5 year old posts when there could be something much cooler now.

My keepers:

Iron Ether Oxide - the ultimate "synth bass" fuzz with the added bonus of being flexible enough to use in just about any context. Its not a gain monster, but its a sweet sounding piece of engineering from Mr Livingstone (I presume).

SFX Micro Fuzz - its small and the fuzz tone is one of the sweetest i've heard.

Fuzzrocious Momster - American' can't spell "mum", but its got the cutest little drawing on the front and enough gain to tear your face off. Its loud and rude and I dig it.

FEA Proton - I don't have it cos its made of unobtainium, but I will and like all of Frank's pedals, I am sure it will be excellent!

My favs:
smallsound/bigsound TAFM
smallsound/bigsound year4545 (getting a custom version made!)
fuzzrocious grey stache (though i'd LOVE to try a momster)
penny pedals fingerprint (which has been reincarnated as a "secret seasons snowdrift" (mode 1 of it) or a "snowflake". Fuzzhugger.com sells snowflake kits)


And no, I'm not a fail to point out that there are plenty of up-to-date threads on preferred fuzzes.

woof. i'm a reiterater i guess. i agree with Mssr. Wilson on the Oxide. pure synthy gated fuzz, but crazy versatile.

i like the TAFM, and am waiting on a Year4545 (not all custom blinged out like Erukus's)... that looks verrrrry interesting.

straight up fuzz? the Pickle Pie B has been on my board since i bought it, and the 'Stache is the only thing that made me think about swapping it's place. Ryan's building me a 'Stahe with the gate the Momster has... i'm hopig that'll be my Ultimate Main Fuzz pedal.

for wackier stuff the Ugly Face is just ANGRY, abd i like the Take Flight Pedals Goose a lot. it's got 3 modes of different gain normal fuzz, then 3 more gated synthy tones that get a bit weird. and an (subtle) octave up. AND it self-oscillates. good stuff.

My favs based of what I've tried/listened to are the ones that I currently have but there are 2-3 more that will eventuall make it here someday!

Way Huge Swollen Pickle: my all time fav fuzz! It can do the doomy fuzz thing in the best way possible! Also the name brings up giggles...My settings usually are (inside : clip at 9, voice at about 1:30), scoop at 10:30, crunch at noon. loudness at about 9:00, sustain at 2:30, filter at 2:00. LUV IT!

Fender Sub-Lime Bass Fuzz: now this is my vintage fav! Can cop "Mean Mr. Mustard" if set right. My usual settings are: (bottom: tone 1:00, x-over 12:30) drive 3:00, volume 1:30 for a slight boost, fuzz BIG KNOB full green for that some really deep fuzz, green-yellow for that song mentioned earlier. this fuzz can go to red and still retain the low-end VERY well

Wooly Mammoth: I have a clone but I recently had a chance to a/b them and noticed no difference. this is my synty fuzz and it has low-end for days! I set the volume at 10:00, EQ at noon, gate at 07:00 and fuzz at 05:00. paired with my Boss OC-2 and with my Dunlop 105Q its a synthy beast!

I miss my:
Boss FZ-2 Hyper Fuzz (anyone wanna sell one?)

My favourite is the Woolly Mammoth (I have a clone :hiding: made by Mario from Robot Pedals). Tons of low-end and great for synthy stuff AND rock n roll IMO. With the pinch knob all the way down and a P bass with dead rounds I can instantly get into Black Rebel Motorcycle Club territory.

i never officially counted the MA wrong side of uranus as a fuzz but if it does then a big +1 !. I just got the updated chip from Scoot (VERY nice guy!) so hoping to do a full scale review with all the modes and how it talks to some of my other pedals sometime over the weekend. lots of clips and such (my bass playing may not be professional but my use of paranthesis hopefully is)....(maybe...) ......(possibly?)

Another vote for Iron Ether Oxide. Was using a BBM before, and it completely sucked me out of the mix when playing live, unless I cranked the hell out of it, which then just sounded terrible. When switching from clean to the IE during a song, it keeps the dry signal nice and even, and adds a great sounding fuzz that sits well in the mix. So it's a winner in my book.
