what i wanna know is, how come nobody's producing a bass-optimized fuzz face clone? Seems like a germanium version would be an instant hit. The closest thing I've found so far was the Mojo Hand Huckleberry fuzz.

Ah, that's true. I totally forgot. Surprised nobody's gone for it here. I'm actually more inclined to do my own build at this point, but it's a lack I definitely noticed!

good to see Taylor's Oxide getting all the love. i'm mostly a set it and forget type of player, so i'd almost like to have 3 or 4 Oxides on board. there's SO many useful tones out of it.

Another plus one for the IE Oxide... it's ridiculous. I also love the Wren and Cuff Tri Pie 70 for my muff tone. These two fuzz pedals do it for my fuzz needs.

My gray Prescription Electronics Depth Charge hasn't left the board since I got it. Lots of tonal options, gain levels, a blend knob, exactly the sound I heard in my head. Plays real nice with my passive L2000, too - unlike some of the farty muff variants I've tried - NOT including my Baddy 1 Shoe Black Russian FrankenMuff - that thing just plain kills.

The Black Arts Pharaoh on it's way to me now might put up a good challenge for board space...I'll know soon.

Then there's my FuzzHugger 5K AB-SYNTH (Robette artwork) which at the moment is being "switchably" modded for bass - can't wait to hear how much that helps an already sick-sounding pedal.

And for the record - +1,000 on the ZVEX Wooly Mammoth (you never forget your first...).

Another vote for Iron Ether Oxide. Was using a BBM before, and it completely sucked me out of the mix when playing live, unless I cranked the hell out of it, which then just sounded terrible. When switching from clean to the IE during a song, it keeps the dry signal nice and even, and adds a great sounding fuzz that sits well in the mix. So it's a winner in my book.

+1. I am another EHX Bass Big Muff owner who has ordered an Oxide.

I also like what I have seen/heard of the Way Huge Swollen Pickle II, the Blackout Effectors Musket, and the Zvex Mastotron.

The only fuzz I currently own is a Chunk Systems Brown Dog. It does exactly what I want:

• Keeps low end (clean blend)
• Doesn't scoop the mids
• Works with actives
• Does gated/synthy tones
• Is versatile

That said, if I were doing something else musically there are a lot of fuzzes I'd consider.

Rip your face off buzzsaw tones? A superfuzz clone like the Guyatone TZ-2

Classic muff tones? One with a mids control. Probably a Pickle Pie B

Super heavy and biting at the same time? Silicon B:Assmaster

Etc.

Malekko B:assmaster (standard silicon version) - buzzy, nasty, cuts through any mix. Has a great clean blend, which I know a lot of people value, but I often use it with the cleans all the way off.

Devi Ever Cherry Pop - no longer in production, but you may be able to get a similar sound with the War Horse - her Soda Meiser circuit with a tone control. A great, gnarly fuzz that can get more low end than you'd believe.

Devi Ever VFM - Great, synthy, disharmonic octave-up-y fuzz.

McSpunckle Gnomeratron VTF - an absolute beast of a pedal, capable of everything from muff-y to octave insanity. With switchable diodes, switchable octave, switchable tone profiles, a gate control, a gain control (and more) there are more options than you'd ever need, and yes there is a clean blend. The octave up is pretty unique, and has a really cool almost modulated thing going on. Plus, if you don't like so many options, you can get a more streamlined version in the Mini Gnome.

Danelectro French Toast - a clone of the Foxx Tone Machine. The thickest, nastiest thing ever. Yes, tons of low end. Also, switchable cutting octave. Probably not the best build quality, and no LED, but you can get these for as cheap as $35.

Mellowtone Wolf Computer - not often mentioned here, and there is some low-end loss, but good god can this thing go crazy. Everything from gritty OD to full-bore fuzz to crazy space invader 8-bit madness.

Mid-Fi Clari(not) - not just a fuzz pedal, this thing is some kind of crazy mutant slapback delay fuzz... the delay is waayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy crazy, though, and you can get all sorts of whacked out backwards-bagpipe-esque noises from it. Or, if you really want, you can dial the fuzz/delay blend all the way to fuzz and just have it be nasty & rude.

Annnnnnd while it's not the best bass fuzz pedal, I can never get rid of my ProCo Rat. There are just some toanz I just can't get anywhere else.

I've always loved the mammoth for mucking about but definitely a muff man
Bass big muff never quite did it for me so after a lot of research i got the Tri Pie. Arrived today and it is immense. Just loving it, really great fuzz.
