I use SRWare Iron, because it has all of the speed and plugins of Chrome, but without Google tracking/spying on you. The only downside is you have to make sure to update it yourself once in a while, because they don't send any emails or push any popups etc. for new updates.

For the record, Firefox is a massive memory hog.
Well, that's why I stopped using Firefox and started using Chrome. Then again, that was a while ago. Perhaps I noticed it more on my older machine with less ram.Have you ever checked? On average, on the several machines I tested with, Chrome uses 30 to 50% more ram than FF. But recent updates might have changed that.
Actually I tested again now with both browsers freshly opened, and Chrome was indeed using less memory. I'd have to check with several tabs open etc. but it is a fact that recently FF has gotten much heavier.
