So....the dreaded Full Circle crackle and cut-out started yesterday, and on the day of a gig in a new venue for an owner who would love to make it a regular job! Of all the days for the pickup to fail!! It is only 14 months old and professionally installed at The Bass Violin Shop and never monkeyed with or bumped.

I called Fishman who very promptly issued a RA. So, less than pleased an in a fit of a combination of disappointment, rage and actual excitement, I got online and ordered a single element Yamahiko! Super easy and painless. The exchange rate on the Yen right now is so weak that all in, shipped to Texas from Japan was only 245 bucks, so I had to get one.

The dual element set is only 420, but I can always add another sensor and cable later. Interestingly, if one wanted the dual sensor setup, added a Nadine (600) and into a Focus (900), so for 1900 and change you could have the ultimate Tweaker's Delight!! Hey....that sounds like a band's name! You heard it here first, folks!

I come from rawdogging an Underwood into a Polytone into 80s and 90s to a Clarus>FC>GRBass AT110, so plug and play is more of where I'm coming from in a gig situation. I am blessed beyond belief to be playing several nights (and days!) a week, so in my situation mobility and simplicity rank high on my Happy List. I have heard that the Yamahiko has a very hot signal. Going into the Clarus, will I have a compatibility issue, or can pulling back on the pre/input so the job? Time and the gig will tell. I hope this wasn't a bad decision.

Joey Naeger is doing the install for me. I will report back!

I've been using a Yamahiko on my Juzek and I just set the gain so it isn't clipping on my Woods. Others will chime in with more direct info about the Clarus. Check the Yamahiko thread for tons of experiences with it.
I think you will be super happy with it. If you want to make sure it doesn't clip, the guy at Yamahiko will wire in a capacitor for you for a little extra.
