Same goes for me.Often, when I adjust the freq select, starting at 35hz, I hear no diff until ~60-80hz range or so.

I just wanted to report that the Series 3 really helped me out last Saturday.
I always have it in my chain, set around 40Hz. At the gig, however, I arrived to find a nice, hollow stage, which created huge blooms of low-end when I played. I used my Alembic SF-2 to pin-point the offending frequency: ~88Hz.
I calculated that the half-way point on the HPF dial was ~87.5, so I set it a touch higher (probably between 88 and 90 Hz), and the bloom was tamed just enough to balance with the rest of my stage sound. We had a great gig.

52.5 added to 35 (or subtracted from 140) is 87.5Hz - the center frequency between the two extremes.
Of course, this assumes that the range is incremented equally throughout the sweep, which may or may not be true... but it was close enough to solve the problem.![]()

How would a hpf benefit a guitarist?
I use my Series 3 all the time for EB and URB.
Curious if the schematic for the Series 3 ever got published. The site only has Series 2. I'm curious to check it out and possibly build it into some other pedals.

Just bought a Fdeck HPF to run through the side chain of my Empress Compressor. I'm wondering if I'll gain the benefits of the HPF through my entire signal chain or just my compressor?
If I understand how the sidechain on that thing works, just the compressed sound. In fact it may even emphasise the frequencies the FDeck is set to affect as it'll be telling the compressor to ignore them. I think you'd be better off making up a HPF pancake jack like they show in the video and using the FDeck normally. Of course, I may be wrong, apologies for any misinformation.

According to the manual, useing a HPF should stop the compressor from attacking my low frequencies. As far as making my own jack....not going to happen
Yeah, my thinking is that by stopping the compressor from seeing the lows, you're almost doing the reverse of what it would normally be doing, or at least in no way highpassing your signal. Fair enough if you don't want to have a go at making the jack, but you couldn't ask for an easier project to cut your teeth on learning to solder.
Well thats the point. The Compressor wont over react to the low frequencies and squash them, if that makes any sense,
I get what the sidechain's for, I'm just saying that's not what this HPF is for, mostly, and that you'd be using a $100 piece of gear for what could be done with a couple of dollars worth of parts. Plus you'll need to use a stereo to split mono cable to connect the Fdeck to it. It just seems like an expensive, complicated way to do something simple.
If it floats your boat, then by all means do so.
Boosting the low eq will eat into the cut that the hpf makes. One would hope the amp has its own very steep highpass below 30hz or that knob must be murder on most cabs.
