FEA fan club!

Warning : this post is not for the faint hearted !

The center pin in the power jack is split, so you can spread the center pin a little by using a small knife blade. This will help tighten the connection a bit.

When I read that I though it would solve my problem.
I'm using a Gigrig power supply which works great for most pedals. But for some reason, its power cables don't seem to work with the FEA style power jacks.
Well - they do work. Just not all the time, depending how the cables are oriented. Not something I'd feel confident gigging with.

Frank's post did not solve my issue no matter how much I split the pin.
It did however give me the spark to take my DE-CL apart and run a salvaged battery adapter power cable through the power jack hole.
Since I don't think many people have autopsied their FEA pedal (nor do I think they should) let me tell you this : best attention to detail I've ever seen.

The slight issue I've run into takes nothing away from the quality of FEA's products (or Gigrig's for that matter). Beware stages - here I come with my Dingwall and DE-CL !

We would have happily replaced that power jack if the problem persisted after spreading the center pin. We always strive to make things right! But I am glad to hear that you found a solution that works for you.

A couple of months ago, I got some power cables that do not fit well in certain styles of DC jacks. I checked them and the sleeve diameter seems substandard. There are some less than perfect male cable connectors floating around out there.

Hi all, hi Frank,

a year ago I ordered the de-cl And got it a few weaks ago. I'm happy with the comp! Any the honeymoon phase is sure over!

I also have compared it to other comps. Awesome sound, noise rate and build quality. For me its on the same level as my long time favorite. That means much!!! THANKS FEA

Any idea when your next batch of DB-CL's will start? So I can start to swing funds ready for it :D

We are in a DB-CL build cycle right now and the first batch from this cycle should be shipping out next week. Then there will be several more DB-CL batches that will follow until this build cycle is complete.

I will not know where we will be with the next DB-CL build cycle until this one is complete and we finish the next DE-CL cycle.

Cool, I put my name on the list at the beginning of August last year.

Hey Frank, Still planning a run of Photon Fuzz' this summer?

Yes sir! The new PCB artwork was completed a few months ago and I still have to get the new faceplates manufactured. But they should be in parallel build cycles with the tail end of the DE-CL's by the end of summer or early fall.
