I have (and love) the SD Studio Bass. However, I have a DE-CL arriving in the next few days. I play primarily with my fingers and like the round fat 70’s type of sound (I play a P-Bass with flats). Would you have any recommendations in terms of settings to start with? Primarily the Threshold, Ratio and Attack controls.

I just got myself onto the list for both the Opti-FET and DE-CL. I'll see you all around this time next year.

Honestly the Opti-FET doesn’t really need the warmth control. It’s so lush as it is. And I really really really wish that @boomertech would make another preamp. The Growler is literally perfect. It’s my secret weapon - you can cut through any mix you want without issue.

I use the proton ii as a pre not as a fuzz

I ended up with using much less threshold on the limiter tonight with a 73' P bass.
For this rehearsal, I ended not using the limiter very much.
It's song dependant for me.
I'm still experimenting.

I was just reading the manual from the FEA Labs website and noticed this gem regarding the warmth control.
"As the warmth control is increased, the output amplifier is made to operate in an increasing assymmetrical mode along with transient nonlinearities".

In my head I couldn't help but hear the voice of Homer Simpson saying "FINALLY, a compression pedal that allows for transient NONlinerarities"..........ha ha ha

My DE-CL shipped today. While I really love my G-Lab BC-1 and all of it's multi channel goodness.....I going to see if the DE-CL can topple the comp that kicked the Keeley Pro off my board which booted the MXR M87 before it.

I should have my hands on it in a couple of days.

If we did make another DBD it would be very different from the original design because the FET's that are used in the high-band are no longer manufactured. We have been suggesting to people emailing us, that are inquiring about multi-band distortions, to look at the Brimstone offerings.

This thread seems to have entered zombie status and it shouldn't. I'm still a FEA fan!

Question: Does anyone know the difference between the V2 and V3 of the DE-CL? I know the V2 added a threshold trimpot and changed the warmth usable range vs. V1 but not sure of differences between V3 and V2. Thanks in advance.

I emailed Frank around this time last year to ask about him making more pedals and he responded that he stopped production at the start of the pandemic to work on other projects and didn't have a schedule to get back to producing pedals. He mentionned he was still doing repair work at that time.
