I am running the Photon enclosures thru the CNC now. So, I get a bit of on-line time for each box... it is so nice to be working again!

Same here! I've not liked another fuzz enough to warrant keeping since I got my TAFM...
I'll be honest. It baffled me at first. Like what the hell, this sounds terrible. I knew I was doing something wrong. Went to the website, read up, learned and understood what it does. mine is pretty much on all the time. it has bent shafts from a previous owner and turns a little wonk, but works great. The key was balancing the dry....
Absolutely. The wet on its own doesn't sound good at all - you need a lot of dry. That's why I would love a dry control per channel.

How many Growler pedals made it into the wild? I've only heard of a couple guys here with them and have never seen a used one anywhere. A pedal I've always wanted to try.

There are 50 Growlers in the wild and every single one of them needed to be balanced and trimmed. I would redesign the circuit for production if I were to ever make them again.

So I just got the FEA DB CL and I want to love it, I do because I love my last FEA compressor and seriously regret selling it. One thing though, I just may be too damn dumb to use this thing. I find that it severely squashed my signal unless I have the gain all the way up on both sides.
I play an MTD 435 and have Mesa Bass Prodigy. I want my levels to be well level, LOL, but not extremely squashed. Does anyone have any good settings they could share? I'm still a noob to the whole compressor thing, but I do notice a huge difference.

What Dark Barn said is true.
This pedal has no many options that it feels like the imagination is the only limit. I've tried many concepts such as high pumping compression of low end with airy low comp/long sustain highs, high compression/limit but high threshold of lows while compressing highs a bit more with long sustain (beautiful melody/solo sound), touch of limit on lows with squashed highs (for slap), no compression of lows and medium comp of highs (like Cali76 Compact Bass low-pass feature), etc. etc. The list goes on.
To understand what the pedal is doing, I'd recommend you to connect a patch cable to the High output, which is not connected to anything else. This will only send the low frequencies to the Low/Full output, meaning that the Hi part (the green section) doesn't affect what you're hearing.
Set Release and Gain to 12 o'clock, Attack to minimum, and Threshold to max. Make sure the Limit/Comp switch is set to comp. Set Freq to e.g. 12 o'clock and Ratio to max.
Start playing and lower the Threshold to when it starts squashing (check the LED as well). Then you know approximately where the Threshold starts to kick in for your bass. Lower the Ratio to more reasonable level and start tweaking everything to your liking
When you understand what you're doing, add the High frequency section and be confused yet again
Sorry if I was too detailed. Didn't know your level of compressor knowledge, and just wanted to be clear.

It sounds like you have a low threshold and/or a high ratio like the others have said. The limit switch on the low-band side defeats that ratio control when set to limit, so that may be something to look at too.
