I recommend a fine point Sharpie.
It works really well, especially if you're hand is steady. The benefit is you can use dry erase board cleaner to remove the black ink to clear off any mess you make if you're too sloppy with the initial application. Or to remove it completely.

Ohhhhh. a FINE point sharpie, I should have had my glasses on when i read that ! Oh well i dont care what it looks like anyway. My ears work much better than my eyes. For now anyway...

I recommend the top version, or the second to last 'Twin Tip'. Either way, the fine point fits in the knob groove perfectly.

I would recommend the ultra-fine point Sharpie as well. And as an FYI, they come in different colors:

I have been using a Barber Linden EQ for a while now as a preamp/EQ. And I was thinking that with the Growler, maybe the DBD wasn't so necessary since where I play, there isn't much call for a distortion pedal. So I did an experiment tonight and learned that the DBD can work very well as a low gain preamp of a sort.
Is kinda like an EQ pedal, with the LEVEL on the low frequency side, and the MIDS and HI controls on the high frequency side. With the bite and drive dialed back, and a little octave, it stays very clean.

Its funny that you mentioned this. I was sound checking a DBD upgrade recently and after checking all of the controls I started to play with lower drive settings. I was looking for a tone for some of the old covers that I used to play in a band 12 years ago. I wound up with settings similar to yours, but I ran the x-over about 3 oclock and turned the drive up on the HI side until there was just a little bit of grit. I was jamming away in my happy place until my boss made me get back to work.

After falling in love with the Photon fuzz I am now jonesing for a FEA comp. I have always liked using a compressor with my Rics but they have been rack mounted dbxs. Haven't hauled around the rack for the last year or so since I went to a Marshall tube head.

Keep checking the classifieds. I bought a mint condition Dual Band Optical Compressor-Limiter for a good price as I got tired of waiting for them to be back in stock.
All of the original schedules have been pushed back because of building lager batches of the other pedals. So I will be rotating mini batches of the Dual-Band Compressor and Opti-FET to accommodate the people that have been on the lists the longest. A mini batch of the Dual-Band compressor is in process right now, so it should be ready within a few weeks to cover everyone on the list up to the end of last December. I really cant say when we will be all caught up to have stock for the website, but I promise that everyone one on the lists will be notified when there is a pedal ready for them.

I discovered a new use for the DBD tonight: preamp for my Kala U-Bass. The DBD did a great job of allowing the character of the U-Bass to come through, while still giving me some control over the signal and taming the piezo thump.
This revelation endangers not only my Behringer ADI21, but also the Barber Linden EQ, which is now out in the cold across multiple bass uses.

Because of the backlog of production for the other pedals, I have delayed the pending release date to the end of April (possibly May) for the new compressor. At this time our priority is getting some of the backlog caught up. Glen will be updating the site with the new target date.
BTW We received the production enclosures last week and they look really sharp with the silver vein finish.
