Rameses, Nice job on the case for the Shuttle, I really dig it! It really ties the setup together. Been following the fEarful threads for a while and have been toying with the idea of building on for a while, might have to thimk about something like that.

Is it bolted into that case or does it slide out? How did you mount it in there?

Looks SHARP!

That is sweet! As a Shuttle owner, I would like to know as well and maybe see a few more pics of it.

Yup, daisy chaining does the same thing as splitting, but looks cleaner and uses less wire. Each input just needs a clear path from the jack, before going through any components. A spade connection won't mess up that path. If you have a tweeter, double check though, that crossover might be designed to come off the output from the mid crossover, I don't recall.

Speakerhardware.com sells everything from just the precut wood for the cab itself to a complete kit that includes everything you need except the finish. I bought my complete kit there and am very happy. Leland has excellent customer service and puts out a quality product.

Robby at Artofnoise.com makes fEARfuls out of a very lightweight material and so far, those that have one are quite pleased. It's about 35% the weight of 1/2" plywood. It also ain't cheap. It's not something you can assemble yourself; you'd have to buy a complete cab. The best stuff is never cheap; but if you've got the coin...

Tweet crossover doesn't have to link off the mid. Tweet crossover is it's own complete unit; i.e. doesn't depend on any of the components on the mid crossover. In hindsight, I wish I'd gone with chaining the connections vs. a terminal block, 3 separate sets of wires.. I'd be done with the build already.

On a related note: Those that've built a fEARful, would you please check out my stuff job. They are the last pics on my build page. I'm buttoning up the cab tonight and now is the time to know if I've got too much stuffing in there. I know I don't have too little. I'm guessing Im on the tolerable edge of "There's a wee bit too much in there but should be OK." I'd like other opinions though.

Looking good, Bardley! Are you using t-nuts for all the drivers? Looks like it. Are you using the 18-Sound mid? The mid crossover doesn't look right to me. Your resistor bank is completely different than mine. Both in the rating of the parts and layout.

Other than that, looking great so far. Your shop is nice; someday I'll have a shop. Right now my shop is a plastic folding table in my garage with a smaller plastic table holding the tools next to it. :D

Ah, I understand now. I just wanted to point it out, just in case. Glad to see that there's no cause for alarm! Your crossovers look great. Can't wait to see how the custom Duratex looks! Have you thought about maybe putting the Vols symbol (if they have one...assuming they do?) on there?

I'm using a real variety of fasteners. T-nuts/hex head bolts for the woofer, 1" coarse thread screws for the mid and Recex screws for the tweet. The Recex screws don't fit in the mid mounting holes, and I only have 4 of the 1" coarse thread screws left. That explains the non-uniformity concerning the mid and tweet mounting schemes. :D

I thought about putting the "Power T" on the side but I think I will just leave it a little more subtle, if you can call a bright orange cab subtle...:smug:

It's been a really fun process so far.

As for my "shop", it's just my garage with my car in the driveway. My wife still parks her new van on the other side so I have to be careful with clamps and tools to not ding it. She actually almost ran over the pieces laying on cardboard drying in the garage from the spray paint. :rollno: That would have been a set back...:D

"Setback" to be sure! :eek: My wife doesn't "get" the whole "working in the shop" and "things take time" concepts. I spent the first few hours of the project marking lines for brads, test fitting and getting the front half of the cab glued together. I came in for some water and she says "Is your new speaker box finished?" :rollno:
