So, I'm considering a 15/6 at this point. I've been toying with building a 15/6 tube and considering adding a 15 sub if/when needed. However, the 1212/6 from AoN is only a few lbs heavier (claimed to be under 50lbs, assuming I go with their build, which I think I would for a 1212/6) and doesn't seem to be that much bigger. Since they are built to sound the same, I'd imagine the differences are the 1212/6 is going to be louder because of the extra speaker area and it will run at 4ohms.
I've given up on trying to find a way to make my 30w Little Bastard work in a live band setting, so now I'm planning to run the new cab with my Mesa M6 Carbine, though may consider going to a micro head at some point.
Is the 1212/6 going to be overkill in most settings? I figure the 15/6 has a good rep for filling the room with good sound, and it does allow for the option to add another 15 in the future. However, for the cost of a 15/6, it doesn't seem like much more to step up to the 1212/6. While the idea of two 12/6 cabs has crossed my mind, it seems like the benefit of the modular options doesn't outweigh the extra time and/or cost to build or order the two cabs.
Not to put too fine a point on it, but what else should I be considering before making a final choice?
