fEARful part 13: the bad luck's done, son

i love seeing those. still hoping for a non-rack one. i'm thinking i'll try hanging on to my M6 non-rack head, but it'd be nice to get a sense of the overhang, and how tight the fit is to get the rubber feet to sit solidly on the cab. though, i suppose i could consider re-drilling and moving the feet in by a small margin if the fit is tight.

still going back and forth between the 1212/6 and the 15/6. did the measurements in the car, and the height on the 1212/6 is going to make for a tight fit in the back of the xB because of where the wheel-wells are, assuming i lay the cab in so the longest measure goes from right to left in the car. otherwise, i could easily fit it if i fold one of the rear seats. small issue to have now, but could become bigger if i change cars.

Well, as you can see, the racked heads don't hang over, so an un-racked head won't hang over, either. Or am I not getting what you are asking about...?

not racked vs un-racked rack-type heads, but non-rack style amp heads. greenboy's spec list the 15/6 at 20.5" wide. the head i have measures almost 23", so i'd expect some. I just did the amp head flip and measure with my M6, and the feet are 19"x11.5". I'd guess that should sit ok on the 20.5"x16" 15/6 cab, or the 20.5"x14.75" 1212/6. Sorry for the nit picking, just trying to envision a few variations, including the 15/6 tube vs the 15/6.

Well I guess you could always just lay a 22" cut 2X4 on top of one tha is cut to 20 1/2".....that will give you your 3/4" over hang that you can see

The nice thing about the wide dispersion of the small format mid driver is that you don't really need to tilt the cab back to hear the mids unless you're standing almost tight against it.

I've been in that situation a few times with a single 12/6 and have tilted it back. No detrimental effect on the sound that I've ever noticed.

+1 You will not regret your choice.... these cabs are beyond your wildest dreams....i still am pinching my self each time i play through them just to make sure it is not a dream!!...It is nothing short Of Beautiful!!!

So I started my 15/6/1 build (from a Leland cut kit) and I have the bottom, shelf/divider, and first side glued up. It's slow going with the dearth of clamps around my house, but I hope to have this thing completed by the time I go back to work in 2012.

So, apparently my father-in-law finished my fEarful cab a while ago and it's been sitting in my garage, in a box, until today! My wife even made me think he was too busy with other jobs to get to the cab, so I was in suspense all day, and after all the presents had been opened, I was bummed, thinking he didn't get to it. Suprise, suprise, he brought it up from the garage, and I was so happy!

I got all the crossover parts and hardware for Christmas, so I've been dying to get things moving. I already have the baffle and ports painted, as well as the grill frame (using grill cloth from an old Ampeg 810 I used to have). Looking forward to starting the Duratex either tonight or tomorrow, and assembling the crossovers, probably tonight. Super excited to get this monster built!!

Whew! I worked most of the day yesterday and today, and finally finished the cab and tested it out about a half-hour ago! Thankfully, the Duratex dried very quickly, even being out in the garage. All that is left is the grill. Could've had it done today, but the staples I bought don't work in my staple gun, so it's off to the hardware store tomorrow.

Initial impressions- WOAH! It's LOUD!! I'm very glad I didn't go with a tweeter- there are more than enough highs with the 6. I had to dial back my treble and high-mids. I asked my wife how it sounded and she said it sounded really good, and like it could take more than I was dishing out! I really can't wait to try it out in a band setting and see how it does!!

Welcome to the club man.....The fun has only just begun!!!!...Your commercial Cab GAS days maybe over but you fearful GAS is just beginning There is only one thing about asking the wife how it sounds....mine told me every cab i had sounded good..lol...i think it was just to get me to shut up about it..lol...But no Them fEARfuls Are Crazy Loud....As soon as i get another speakon cable i am hooking my 15/6/1 and 1515/66/1 up together just to see what it can do...I will have to make sure my house is covered for earthquake damage first though . Have fun with your...I love my 15/6/1....it is one hell of a cab for its size!! Cheers mate!!
