Wow, that is a bummer - I hope you recover soon. BTW, how do you type - do you have use of your hands or are you using a pencil in your mouth or voice command software or something else? Just curious.

I broke my C3/4 in August of 2010. I was told not to expect to walk or breathe without a machine ever again. However, I was taking my first steps by October. My right side is now fairly "normal" though weaker than it was. My left side still has a little way to go, and is healing from the leg up, so the left hand/arm is the last to heal. I type with both hands, though modified so the right hand does more duty. The left hand is good enough to hold down a root note and play a slow walk or moderate change. I jam on AC/DC's Long Way To the Top, Priest's Living After Midnight, Sabbath's Paranoid. I just learned ELO Don't Bring Me Down, and working on a few others. I-IV-V blues is a treat. I jam with some buds once every couple of weeks, which helps a ton.

I just bought a Dingwall ABZ5 because it plays nice and is much lighter than my (sold) Warwick Thumb. I'm looking at the AoN fEARful 15 since it comes in at 35-ish pounds (vs. my Mesa 115PH anchor). Light weight and easy to move are big selling points for me. Now, I'm just waiting on Ken's clips before I order.

Everyone, thanks for the well-wishes!

Dude...YOU are an inspiration!!! :hyper: :bassist:

I'm proud to say I'll be joining team fEARful in the near future. I ordered a full kit from Leland at Speaker Hardware a little bit ago. It's the 12/6/1, with the 18 sound 6". I decided I needed it as I recently bought a Dingwall, tried to drop the B to A, and didn't get near the desired response from my Epi 310 cab. I plan on driving it with a Markbass F1, or an Aguilar TH 500. Have to wait and see which one sounds better. Never seen or heard one in person, but from everything I've read/heard about them, I think I'll be quite satisfied!

Thanks gang.

I'm pretty certain that once all is said and done, I'll be plugging my Dingwall ABZ5 into a Baer Valkyrie and fEARful AoN 15/6. Obviously, there is some waiting to be done on the Baer, but basd on my time talking to Roger and playing the ML112, and the buzz/award from NAMM, I have a good feeling about it.

Ken, it just dawned on me what you were driving at with the Genz high-pass filter. All this time, I've been thinking about how it impacts the high frequency range. I wasn't thinking of it in terms of setting the pass frequency at 30hz to block out the super-low frequencies, and how that impacts things like power consumption. Dang, I feel dense.

I run my Dingwalls tuned down a half step, just because I like less string tension and tend to work with blues players. The fEarful will get you what you want from your Dingwalls. I can tune down to A and get that too. I've said it lots of times, hooking up the first fEarful was like getting a whole new rig. The GK 1001 rb 2 and the Dingwalls had so much more to give than I was getting with other cabs.

Since we're on a Dingwall kick, one of the guys Dingwall forum guys, might be Lomo, came up with a waist belt that added a strap lock to the body to take the strap weight off the left shoulder. The AB's are pretty light to begin with, but lately I've been thinking about finding a more comfortable suspension system. If you like your bass slung high, even a light bass with a short strap gets to be uncomfortable.

Supposedly, TB'er (and fEARful community member) fdeck is working towards a very interesting high pass filter, (30hz with variable slope) that, should it come to pass will be a great addition to many fEARful players setups.

Look for it to be similar in form factor to his other filter, intended for upright players.

No. Remember outside of TB and the fEARful forum I doubt many people have heard of these cabs, nevermind the big names.

How many have been built in total?

Less than 500?

That's a really good question. I know that I built two of them for myself. A 1212/6/1 and a 12/6. Does anyone have a realistic estimate of the number of completed fEARfuls out making music?
