Fearful Part 14: one better than 13!

I was looking into the speakerhardware flat packs for two 15/6/1s but according to this image I'd need to reverse the tweet & midrange driver in 1 of em. Is that reversal available in a flatpack?

I might be wrong, but can't you just turn the baffle around before gluing to get the reverse baffle? There isn't really a "good" or "bad" side to the plywood.

I would also second the notion of doing a 15/6 and a 15sub if you always intend to use them as a single channel bass stack.

I believe there was a 15/6 in Bass gear magazine?

I keep hearing that this is true, but I don't see that... Is there really an issue of BGM that has a 15/6 review???

After reading & researching for the last week from Greenboy, Barefaced, Bill Fitz... I did some listening off axis of my gear & man... my 10s perform like garbage vs my 15s. I play in a huge wide round church & often times 10' behind my cab. With my 10s all I hear is boom & mud, with my 15s its much better. I'm hoping to improve on that Fearfuls.

I'd love to see some stuff that shows the offaxis performance in action!

Have you considered the Thunderchild AF? Obviously not a DIY option. However, with the rear ports and the rear facing tweeter, you might get some better sound when 10' behind your cab. Just a guess, and no intent to take anything away from the fearful.

When you mention your 10s, do you mean cabinets with multiple 10" drivers in them? Putting tens side-by-side cuts their dispersion in half along that axis. A 4x10 or 6x10 easily has worse dispersion than a 1x15.

Yeah, you don't wanna be behind any cab. If you have to be behind it for some reason, put it off to the side and angle it to sidefill, at least enough so that you are in front of the plane of the baffle. Like I mentiioned, you can get away with a pretty steep angle with a fEARful.

Hopefully there's a PA involved if you need to do that, or the room is such that it'd still be firing mostly at the crowd. (The latter in my case. Had line to PA, but ended up not needing it.)

Well, I got mine finished :hyper: . . . and it sounds fantastic!!!

Posted a few more pics and details in the "club" forum. Hope to get a detailed build put together for the wiki section, but here is one for here.

Quick update: just got the Art of Noise 1212/6/1. Holy cow. Speechless. This thing is a BEAST! I honestly think it might be too much for me. Heading back to go play some more....

I'll take it your hands. I'm right across the river from you. :-)

Rick- Husky is a nice guy & giving me 1st dibs but I'm a long way away so if you can do my boy a solid I'd really appreciate it! Thats a ridiculously awesome cab there. It aint right of me to hold up a bird in hand since I havent even heard the cabs yet.

Art of Noise as well, SUPER lightweight, man... life just aint fair sometimes !

It's cool Tuna, I'd have to sell my NV215 first and maybe some other stuff to take it off his hands so if you got the scratch in hand don't let me get in your way. Besides I'm kinda sorta building a 15/6.

Standing in front of this 1212/6/1 reminds me of the first time I played my SVT through an 810. My hair hasn't stood up on the back of my neck in a long, long time. What a beast.

That's my cab of choice. Except mine is the 12/6-12/sub. With 1500 watts behind it watch out, it fricken rules. But for some reason I'm still drawn to the 15/6-15sub, I don't know why. I don't think I would ever need to be louder.:D
