Fearful Part 14: one better than 13!

A double 15 fEARful set up crushes to. It will handle enough wattage to put out more sound than any 810 that I am aware of. Oh and it will sound better doing it too.
What does NEED have to do with it? Use them because you can.
Thats why I just went with a 1515/66. I dont have to turn it up all the way... but I like to have a reserve of a$$ kickery.
So yall are saying you can't kick a$$ with just one 15/6?
Guess I'm trying to determine the venue (size of gig \ outdoors \ no PA etc) where people feel that a single 15/6 is not enough?
I like the presence of more speakers even at lower volumes. I am also using a head that is "only" 400 watts. I can count on one hand all of the gigs that I have had PA support for bass. Most venues around where I live only have enough PA's for vocals. Some dont even have subs. Could I get away with a 15/6? probably, but I dont have to.
Well, these two cabinets always brings a smile to my face, so ALWAYS!
In all seriousness, the biggest advantage having two boxes is in the Reduced Schlep Factor. I can leave one set up at the house with my big rack rig (Alembic/Stewart rack visible in the picture).
The other one over stays over at our rehearsal studio with my backup power amp, and all I need to bring back and forth is my gig bag and effects board that includes an Eden WTDI.
Total modular heaven. For live work I can combine the two and not have to worry for a moment that I won't be able to hear myself or provide a balanced nice stage wash that sits in the mix oh-so-nicely.
Yesterday at practice I actually moved the cabinet from being positioned immediately behind me to about ten feet in front of me. In this setup, I could hear it and all the other instruments SO well, just a perfect blend from top to bottom.

For most gigs I take the 12/6 cube and try to place it back 3-4' behind and to my side of the drummer. I'll grab a bar table or stool to get the height up to chest level. That puts plenty of bass all over the stage. If I can't get it back behind, it goes as far back as I can get it. A chair will do for stand, but it's not a big deal if it sits on the floor.
I sometimes put the cab off to the side pointed across the stage. You don't want to spend all night with that mid range in your ear at close range, it's better to get a little distance. But even if you get stuck on a tiny stage standing to the side of the cab, you'll be fine.
I don't worry about keeping up, I know I can. Even with stupidly loud guitar players, I have plenty. I can even point to my small cab and suggest that maybe, just for tonight, we hold the guitars down so we don't drown out the bass. Not that they will....
These aren't you everyday "running out of steam, farty, flappy, can't keep up" cabs.

I'm looking into it. I would love to just get a 1515/6 but I like the idea of having a modular setup that I can scale down when I need to....I might take your suggestion and go 15/6 with a 15sub. Two 15/6s would be a bit out of my price range. Would a 12/6 and 15sub be dumb sonically?
****. I'm kicking myself for ordering that GK 212 Neo. It shipped today, so too late to stop it. I need to unload quite a few things before I can order any of these kits.
The price difference between the LF driver in the 12/6 and 15/6 isnt that big. Save your pennies for a better bang for your buck. A lot of people would say that a 15/6 is enough for their needs. It can put out as much SPL as a middle of the road 610.
EDIT PS: Right now the 15" driver is cheaper on Featuring Eminence Speakers, Crown Amplifiers, DIY Speaker Kits - Speaker Hardware, over 30 years Audio experience than the 12" go big!

I thought I was done with GAS. I think I will keep my 12/6 but am leaning toward selling my 12/sub and building a 15/6 and 15/sub down the road. My 12/6-12/sub I thought would handle anything I would play, and it still might. But a new louder band, heavier music and I seem to be pushing my cabs pretty hard. I'll give it one more practice just to see for sure. Although the thought of a 12/6 for most stuff and a 1515/66 for the rest sounds pretty good. Damn you GAS..........
Oh, indeed you can. I definitely don't lack for volume with just one 15/6. Two cabs though, just adds another layer to the sound. It just seems fuller at the same volume level.So yall are saying you can't kick a$$ with just one 15/6?
Of course, actually trying to use my noggin, I must admit that having a 15" at ear level might be where a lot of that perceived fullness is coming from. Still, running cab models from one speaker seems to sort of do the same thing.
Next gig, I think I'll run them side-by-side and see if I notice a difference in sound.

I guess i could of gone with just the 15/6/1 and a 15 sub but i do like a single Large cab when it come to big stuff and hey i have my 15/6/1 for my "small" stuff. I have yet to run them together through my Carvin B2000 but when i am doing the large out door gig this year i am going to do it
i am sure if you listen you will hear me all the way down there in the states
I love my 1515/66/1 and i am glad i dont have to pack 2 cabs around when i need some big power.. The only thing i want now is a lil 12/6 cube to stack on my 15/6/1....Because I need it???...No Because i WANT IT!!! + it will be a great lil cab just to grab and run with when i have to do a practice somewhere in small tight spaces!!... O dear I feel a Bad Case of Gas come on again!!!

Ha! The cab that ends GAS for all other brands creates it for itself!

Not a problem...It is actually Perfect! My B2000 goes down to a 2 ohm load so running the 1515/66/1 and the 15/6/1 will give me a 2.6 ohm load...meaning that the 66 will get 2/3rds of the power and the 15/6/1 will get 1/3rd which is a perfect split and even power divide between the 3 speakers!!
