Great job on the crossovers, Interceptor and Nordskov - nice to see people coming up with ideas to make it their own!

Some cluebie commented the other day about how all we do is talk about our cabs and people congratulating each other in this thread. Well DUH!!! Why would we carry on endlessly about Mesa cabs and various tube heads here when this thread is about fEARFuls and stuff? Like uh, isn't that the way topics are supposed to work?

So, whilst he is carrying on about his stuff somewhere else and bemoaning the fact that someone should carry on instead about something else, again, great stuff, guys!!!

EDIT: Also, cableguy, nice to see the fun is SHARED ; } ...Sorry I missed you but I've been kinda sour on forum watching lately. I'll try and pay attention.

You lucky devil you! : } ...It's too bad frequent builders/kit providers wouldn't be able to depend on a supply. I'd love to see it as an option on Leland's website.

Thanks for setting up the wiki, I've posted my xover pictures there too, with a little narrative about the project.

I now very much regret not taking more pictures. When I was hot and heavy into the middle of the project, I couldn't be bothered to get out the camera, but now I see it would have been not only useful for others but interesting for me to see the various stages it went through.

Let that be a cautionary tale, take a lot of pictures!

Hey thudfromafar,

I've just drawn you a picture for a 1/4" plywood plate. It needs to be cut so that the midrange driver cutout lines up with the mid driver cutout on the cab's baffle. Then all other measures are relative to that.

You can continue the plate to each side all the way to the side grill standoffs. That covers the old waveguide hole. Then you cut a new waveguide cutout into the baffle using the one in the Plate as a guide. Really not too hard.

I've been looking for a one-cab solution to my current large and HEAVY Mesa/Boogie stack. I had my eye on an AccuGroove El Whappo Jr. but fEarful cabs seem like they might be a good inexpensive alternative. In your experience, what (if any) fEarful cabs or combination of cabs do you think would fit the bill?

I primarily play funk, soul, rock, reggae, and occasionally bluegrass and folk on upright, if that makes a difference. My amp is a M/B M-Pulse 600, although I have been seriously considering selling that for.....?

Both drivers are due in this week and I picked up a bottle opener to have mounted on the cab. I'm stoked!!!!!! Can't wait to fire it up.

Yeah, the only cuts that need to be fairly sweet are the exposed outside edges. As long as they are straight and not edge-shredded a little fine sanding and some paint and you are good. The cutouts get covered anyway, so as long as they aren't too large they will be fine.

Make the glue work smooth and don't miss any spots, and after it's fairly set, a little buildup from the inside around the old waveguide cutout and you are golden.

Chances are good that's my xover, as i just got a shipping notice :)

I'll post a bunch of pics and such when I get it and get into the inside of my cab, probably next weekend. Maybe see the old xover in the classifieds ;)

List of stuff to do:
-rip&replace xover (soldering time, yay)
-cut, build and stuff new midrange box
-add bracing to the top
-add a cross brace from handle to handle (tentative)

I'm very happy to see GB's ideas offered as construction parts for enthusiasts through a firm like Leland's.

It reminds me of the early days of Madisound.

I got my first table saw to build transmission line based speakers that came out of that culture.

Those were good years.
