I use a Reiner JGR pre amp, and one side of a Crest ProLite 3.0. I generally give in to the sound man and give him the DI out on my pre (post pre). If I get mic'ed, it is between the woofer and mid driver.

Theoretically, you can mic between the mid and the woofer, but realistically...why would you want to, given the speakers generally aren't providing tonal color? I turn down cab mics whenever I can. If a soundman is persistent, I make sure he takes my DI then can 'add color' (heh) from a mic if he needs.

I would like to weigh in here, not because I have more insight to the question put forth by OP, but just to offer an observation....

These cabinet designers and sellers that are participating here are doing some wonderful stuff. It's made possible because the big manufacturers have been racing to the bottom for a long time now in search of ever more profits.
