Roots and fifths and a little extra.
That agrees with my experience with one 12/6, for sure. I found 500 watts @ 8 ohms to be the point of diminishing returns, FWIW.
I ran 325w into my 12/6 but swapped to an MB800 (500w into 8 ohms) for easier schlep factor. The the extra headroom makes a considerable improvement to the sound (at a comparable volume)
I own a a MB500 as my backup head. I like it, but with a 12/6 it isn't enough to run a fat tone with a hard hitting drummer. But, don't despair. The MB500 makes a very fine preamp.
Thanks a lot everyone. This is exactly what I was thinking.
Naturally I'll not be going out and purchasing all this new stuff on the same day. (Would that I could!) But I'll order me a flat pack kit for either a 12/6 or a 15/6 in a few weeks. Then I have to build it. As far as a second fear cab or a new amp? I'm just feeling out where I'd ultimately like to end up, not making any concrete plans yet.
