I was scrolling through the rest of the "coming soon" list and noticed Invalid Link Removed and couldn't help feel sorry for the vegans Fender turned into leather to make it. Noticing the bodies of all of these new Squire's are made out of poplar is a big no for me though, absolutely love the look though... but I'm an alder/ash (possibly mahogany) kinda guy. No, I don't care that you think tone woods don't exist.

Is it just me, or does it seem like FMIC is more willing to have a little fun under the Squier banner? It’s like that little Squier decal is a magic spell that shields them from the critiques of the Fender purists. “Whatever, dude… it’s just a Squier!”

They look good but guess we'll just have to see how the QC is on them once players get them in their hands. I'll wait for that or myself to have the chance before really giving praise one way or another.

I bought a Squier Protone Stratocaster at a thrift store a long time ago. I don't dig the gold hardware, but it is far better than the made in Mexico Strat that I gave away to a friend after acquiring the Squier Protone Strat.
I bet that a Squier Protone bass from that same time may also be a real nice instrument.

How do you like yours? I have chronic GAS for that model too.I like the neck on that. I have the Affinity active which has the laurel finger board. That's also 70's spacing. The CV looks to have active passive switching which the Affinity doesn't. The CV looks ripe to drop a Sadwosky Preamp in.

Yes, Squier is more experimental than Fender proper. Kind of how GM used to use Pontiac to try out weird stuff.

Alder and Poplar sound the same according to Warmoth and I agree, usually very close in weight as well.
Janka hardness number is also very close.
I don't believe in tone woods but I hate basswood that's so soft it won't hold screws and it dents if you look at it too hard.
That's the classic 1968 color.
The only other color sold is that non-historic surf green (which I'm personally not too crazy about).

Made by Cortek, nope.
PRS and Sire are made in the Cor-Tek factories as well, and they're quality instruments. This shouldn't be an issue as long as the brand pays for QC. Going back a decade Cor-Tek manufactured for Lakland, G&L, and Ibanez too.
