Can anyone chime in concerning the Fretless Jazz? Has anyone bought and/or played one? I’m itching for a 4 String Fretless. These Basses are getting great reviews, but I can’t find much on the Fretless.... Thanks!

I’m assuming it won’t be much different. I’m just curious and need a nudge toward pulling the trigger.

After trying out a Player P and a J recently, I took the plunge and ordered a Jazz in Tidepool!

I’m not too worried about QC issues as they seem to be, thankfully, quite random. Moreover my dealer is also the guitarist in one of my bands so he inspects any bass I buy from him. Last one I ordered, a P-bass Deluxe Special, had bad QC: finish wasn’t great, bridge was dodgy... he sent it back to Fender and ordered me a new one which ended up being great.

It should be here around mid-March (I’m based in Scotland FYI). Excited!

Rashrader, I just bought the polar white 4 string player fretless. Its my first MIM, fretted are MIA. Seems well built. It comes with Fender stainless flat strings instead of the usual round wounds. I am not a fretless expert, some prefer rounds, but it looks like flats are not as likely to damage the fretboard. It was setup pretty tight. Fretless is a learning curve for me, but I think this is a really good way to start at this price point. I assume these are the same Alinco 5 pickups that come on the fretted jazz and they seem to sound pretty good. Unless I'm missing something the workmanship looks good. I got mine at GC but don't know how easy these are to find. Gets my vote
