Fender 60th Anniversary Precision Bass

I don't know for certain, but it seems that 08 and beyond have been particularly good years for Fender basses. I am no expert but I do know that the 08 I got is, without question, the best playing / feeling bass I've ever played. I am also pretty confident that I got one of those "great" basses that comes out of the factory only once in a while. I've played other 08s, etc and don't love them. It really is one of those magic basses.

Every time I go through GAS and get a new bass that "I've always wanted" or "is exactly what I've been looking for" I come back to this bass. Since I've owned it I've owned and sold/traded three different Jazz basses, a 60th Anniversary P (as noted earlier), a P-Bass deluxe, a MIM P-Bass, a Tony Franklin Fretless, a Sting Ray and a Ric 4003. The only ones I've kept are the Tony and the Ric (because they truly are great additions to any collection). I will always have my Geddy because Geddy and Alex signed it. The Custom Shop Jazz I just got I feel like I'm in love with, but I'll know more in a few gigs. However, I always always always come back to this bass.

because of the nitro finish, side input jack and the vintage sunburst. I tried to order these specs from the custom shop a while back and they said it had to be "master built" for $5k
so I figured the price was right. My last P-bass was from the 70's and the neck had yellowed. I just didnt like the bright maple in my hands, purely mental thing for me. I bought the bass from Guitar center when they had a 15% off sale which made it $1360, plus it had (as many guitar center in -tock guitars do...) a few dings so they gave me an addition $100 off, totalling $1260.00. The nitro tint cost me $200 at a local luthier, he sanded the neck down to the wood, (except for the logo, serial # and date stamps) nitro clear coated as a base, nitro tint, then more thin clear coats. Looks like an Eric jJhnson strat neck and goes real nice with the body. thats my story, love the bass, and will play it hard and let it relic naturally!

Yeah, I'd like to see pics of that one too. I really liked the sunburst, but did not like the contrast of the maple board. Conversely, the maple board looked awesome with the Blonde, so that's what I got. But I think the darker tint on your board will look great.

I agree with Fletz about the '08s. I got an Am. Std. P and Jazz in '08. Both very nice. Great tone, and extremely comfortable.

I find that the neck on the 60th Anniv. P is very similar to the '08 > Am. Stds. Very comfortable. IMO, you can't go wrong with either one.

Causally stopped by a Guitar Center to pass some time and spotted a blonde 60th aniversity on the wall. Right next to was a 2 tone burst 60th anni. That blonde jumped out at me. I love the matching of classic and modern styles. And it played as amazing as it looks. I want one now. I could have walked out the door with it that day. If I go back it will be leaving with me.
I have $900+ invested in hot rodding a MIM P bass to similar specs as this 60th anni but my MIM doesn't play nearly as well. For ~$1200 this bass would be worth the price. Haven't GAS'ed this hard for a bass in awhile. Resisting the urge to return with a stack of cash in hand and see if I can take it home for ~$1100.

good question ... there was a nice tsa case in the pic ... but to tell the truth ... my eyes were so far rolled back in my head and I was muttering and slobbering something fierce I don't know for sure. let me check.
