Disagree completely.
This bass new is now $2,000-ish street price everywhere. This bass was nowhere near $1,000 last year. $1699 maybe.
IMO this is a great deal considering a new 2009 American Standard P is $1299.
The neck may be too much for some people though...

I think the 62RI neck is one of the most comfortable necks ever put on a bass. It's fairly wide for a four string, but really thin from front to back. I suppose for young children and smaller ladies it MIGHT be a bit much to handle...

One of my favorite necks on a 4 string... very comfortable to play. Good deal... Jump on it!!
The AVRI '62 P neck is a touch too wide for my preference. The b-width neck on my '68 P is perfect for me.
That said, $1000 is an excellent price for a near-new AVRI bass. I sold an early 90's AVRI '62 last year for more than that.

And yes, it's a killer deal.
I'm basically breaking even on this. I can take it back to GC for a full refund anytime in the next ten days, so I won't take a loss. I just thought I'd try to pass on a good deal to a fellow TBer.
