The PB-70 MIJ reissue, the older one people are talking, is absolutely awesome in my view. Fastest P bass neck of any I've played, even faster than my Jazz by quite a margin. upgraded the pots and it nails that freddy washington tone

fender 70's precision

I got mine yesterday from GC for the original el-cheapo price ($525)-
Love it! Well worth the $850 regular price but much thanks to the original poster for the heads up for some of us to get a great deal!

Mine just showed up. Very sweet upon first inspection. MIJ all the way. Not heavy either. I really lucked out on this.
best 453$ i have spent , i rather own this over the USA standards i have had, but I am more of a ric player now so i may resell it , still nice basses
So... any idea about those pickups? Thoughts about the stock sound?

Just got off the phone with GC. We ended up settling on 700 bucks for the 3TSB. Not as good as the $529 price, but probably better than I'm going to get from Sam Ash or MF (if the ever start to carry it).
I didn't raise as much h*** as I could have. I mentioned that I was aware of other buyers who had the original price honored, but I didn't go too far with it. They made an honest attempt to meet me (almost) halfway, so I'll go with that.
I'm stoked that this thing is finally on it's way to my doorstep....

I hated the one I had very briefly - the PB-70 was not a clone of a 70s in many ways, especially the neck. A 70s neck is much chunkier and I found the neck terrible.

Got to it from the main page, selected bass, then 4 string, then fender, then scrolled until I found it.
I love mine. I want to put a Hipshot extender key on mine, but the BT10 for Japanese Fenders doesn't look right. Any one else put one on?
yes , i put one on , but the one you need is the BT2 .... the same one that fits the fender geddy lee sig.
I tried one at a local music store. I prefer the neck profile on my cij pb70.....not as flat or wide.

just got mine. I will be putting the neck on my black highway1 pbass with black pg to match my geddy lee with black pg (ok ok the highway 1 has a flat black finish...). i'll put the rosewood highway one neck on the 3TSB body and add a tort PG and ashtrays and flats for a true old-school look. pics to follow. GAS alleviated for the forseable future 
BTW my highway 1 pbass has one of the most comfortable necks i've ever felt. This '70s p neck is somewhere between my H1 and my GL. I think I'm really going to dig it. I will report back with more info as I get a chance to play it some after work tonight. Kapow!

Hi, packhowitzer, above writes that just you got the new 70s pb ? In a few days, to order it and for me. Tell me your first impressions ...??
So far it plays like a dream. Mine came set up perfectly and almost in tune! The neck feels a bit flatter than my Highway1 Pbass.
It has a high gloss neck (as opposed the satin finish on the H1).
I have found it to still feel fast to me and not at all sticky. right now it's more glassy.
The action is such that I can comfortably slap on it (not as easy as on my Geddy Lee, but still doable)
The fit and finish are top notch- smooth fingerboard edges and good tuners. I replaced the stock POS tuners on my Geddy Lee with Hipshot HB2s. No need to do that to this bass.
The Sunburst and subsequent visible wood grain are both really nice. I'm no expert on SB finishes, but I like this one-- Not too orange, not too brown. Just right.
The knobs have a nice resistance and are tight with no static.
I am hearing a bit of noise from the pickups. I swapped cables and basses and this bass is definitely a bit noisy. (maybe the ground wire?)
The pickups sound very similar to me to my H1, really the main diff in sound is the brand new super bright strings on the '70s pb verus my already broken strings on the H1. So I'm not really sure yet about any major difference. the pickups in the '70s pb certainly sound good.
If this bass had been offered in gloss black with a HMV bridge, I would be in bass heaven.
You could say, it has the classic sound of a Precision bass, or has a slightly different sound ? And tell me and your opinion, I go for the 70s precision or put a few euros more, and go to an American standard precision bass ?
