Like a lot of TBers, I bought one of these too. 649 @ GC couldn't say no. Weighs 9lbs even. Sounded great stock but I like to tinker.

Fender 75th Anniversary bass?

Alright, what ya do to it? I see a switch, new pups, and the knobs look concentric.
Only mod I've done to mine was to swap the knobs. I was really happy with the pups when I got it, then I gigged it. I'm not gonna swap pups anytime soon.
I also got this bass and I agree about the pickups, they sound fantastic as is. I like to tinker too and will have a aged pearl pickguard on it tomorrow when it shows up along with some of my favorite flats and some strap locks. Aside from that, I can’t see myself changing anything else, it’s just solid.
Strap locks, forgot about those. Going to be passing a GC in about an hour. Will stop in and get a set.
Leaving the rounds on it as that's where a lot of the "bite" in the sound is coming from.
Who did you order your guard from? Looking at a black carbon fiber one for MIMs from WD.
What is special about them?

It's basically a Player series with some small upgrades that looks awesome. I for one am grabbing one soon to use with rounds. I'll be swapping out the knobs, bridge and maybe the guard for tort.
I had a Player P with a maple board a few years back and it was just awesome. Can't wait to get this, which looks much better and should have the same neck.
I find the Player Plus series pretty gross, but the regular Player series is a great bass for the money. I like the Vintera too, just not any of the colors really, or the old fat, round radius neck. This 75th is the best of both worlds.

I added a BT7 Detuner, Hipshot Kickass Bridge, Bartolini 9j Pickups, Audere JZ3 Pro, and Schaller S Locks.
I didn't buy any of this, it all came off my previous jazz. I bought this model because I liked the look better than my previous one. Also, I really prefer maple over rosewood 99% of the time.
Edit: Oh, and I swapped out those horrible Fender strings for some EB Cobalt Rounds.
I have never seen, played, or owned a MIM that was near a USA model. I never played a Squire i liked enough to buy.
And in reference, you are saying it is possible for a Squier to be of higher quality that a USA model.......
Think 99% of this is folks trying to justify their purchase.

What I find hard to believe is that you've never heard anyone here say it about the MIMs, especially since someone else said it right here in this thread.

I love my MIAs and enjoy my MIMs too but I'm with you on the Squier basses. My MIMs are for gigs and my MIAs only leave the house for special occasions. I won't justify my purchases to anyone but I like your style even if you are a bit blunt. That is a beautiful Jazz, Congrats! My AmPro 2 P has a Jazz neck stock
The two series have the same name: 75th Anniversary, with the MIA being "Commemorative", it's easy to confuse. It means that nobody here wants to talk about MIM or MIA, what we need is for the OP to be more specific. Regardless, both series are very good, and I agree with the rest of your opinion.

Beautiful bass, but it is not a 75th Anniversary. I have one also, it is a Plus Top Limited Edition Blue Burst.
I bought that one first and saw the Diamond Anniversary next to it. After playing both of them I knew I was going to get both of them. Excellent basses.
I did not say i have never heard that. Said i have not seen, played, or owned a MIM that was better than a USA. My experience.
Hell, the last MIM i bought new was a pretty nice bass. For about 7 months.
Then had to replace the pots that stopped working. And jack that got real noisy.
Try not to be...typing is not my strong suit.

Yes, and I merely said I find it hard to believe you haven't heard others say some MIMs are every bit as good as USA-made Fenders...not because you said or didn't say it, but simply because it's said here often.
Now, logically, if some Squiers are as good as some MIMs, it stands to reason those Squiers are as good as some USA-made Fenders...when it comes to playability and tone.
I have no idea how many Squiers you've tried, but I've tried 30 or 40 or 50, and I've owned quite a few.
Naturally, I could have easily bought an MIM Fender when I was shopping for a Jazz bass in September, I tried a dozen or so then and quite a few more this year, but I decided to gamble on something I believed to be better...a 2015 Chinese CV Jazz bass, despite the fact that it cost more than a new one.
As I guessed it would, the gamble paid off.
Have I tried other MIMs since then?
Yes.
Do I still think my Squier is better?
Definitely.
As with any particular bass that rolls of the assembly line, a Fender Player Jazz, for example, some will have flaws, some will not play or sound quite as good as others, many will be perfectly gig worthy and certainly worth buying, but one or two out of fifty, let's say, will be exceptional among its lot.
At least that's what I believe.
So I'd certainly have to believe an exceptional Squier Jazz bass can be as good, if not better, than a run-of-the-mill MIM Jazz bass.
Of course, this could just be my medication talking!
