How did we get to the 75th anniversary? It feels like only yesterday when I was buying the Fender 50th Anniversary t-shirt in Sam Goody!

In all fairness, what did you expect? Adding too much bling to a P bass ruins it. This is a nice color with a maple neck, gold hardware and a hefty bridge. The idea is to commemorate the 75th anniversary of these great instruments. What better way to do it than to make a batch of nice ones? The price isn't astronomical, either.

Thanks everybody for the comments. I had a sort of "instant GAS" but I am not so GASing now.
I find these 75th Anniversary Precision and Jazz basses beautiful but not mandatory to own as I am not really a collector of Fender basses, even though I would like having a MIA Fender P-bass. I'd rather look for a used American Standard.
I was almost sure that with the virtual Winter NAMM Fender would bring the 70th Anniversary Precision Bass, I mean the one with the single coil pickup first introduced in 1951, but maybe that will debut in Summer NAMM, who knows, just curious to see if Fender will re-issue it with some updated colors and hardware.

I wasn’t too impressed with the MIA Standard P I had. My MIJ P was better build IMHO.

This one is really pretty. OP said no V-mods and thats the best change IMHO. Ive got a P5 set if someone is looking. I'm very happy with my P&J stable, so I'll pass, but they could be nice. I do like the color.

62 Pickups, 63 neck profile.... awesome. Hasn't that been done a couple of million times? Perhaps they could have done something a little more creative for a 75th Anniversary Model. Remarketing the same bass with gold hardware.... which never ages well (gold hardware, that is).

Here are a few suggestions for the 76th Anniversary model; make the cutaway deeper, giving better access to the top of the neck. Make the neck 24 frets. Those are some design changes I personally would like to see in our beloved Precision Bass. Do the same thing for Jazz basses as long as your at it. Simple changes that would make a big difference. Anyone else think those would be desirable changes in these designs?

I wouldn’t object, but I wouldn’t say those changes would be simple, nor cost neutral. Not a fan of gold either. Thanks for posting.

They took standard woods and features then discontinued them only to re-release them as special one-offs. This is pretty much a mod shop bass with ash and '62 pickups. And yet we still see no factory installed pickup and bridge covers. I like it, but its nothing new and it does not really commemorate the old.
