fender active jazz?

I just got my hands on a Fender American Deluxe Jazz Bass FMT V and I'm diggin' it. I've pretty much come to terms with the fact that I'm not a passive guy but I can honestly say that Fenders American Deluxe basses are really nice. If you can get your hands on one I'm sure you'd like it.

I bought a Fender J just about 2 yrs ago from GC, and will never part with it! Its flawless in its consruction and finish, frets are perfect, the thin satin neck helps me slide very well, and its passive or active, a switch to change moods depending on the sound I want at the moment. But mostly because, even though it only has stock roundwounds (Dont know the brand) when I strike a note it'll ring out for days if I let it, and when Im in the groove and everything comes together just perfectly, the tone literally gives me chills and makes my hair stand on end. Thats no B.S.! I have 6 bassses and only get that from the J. I have a Fender P also but that is a whole other emotion, since were talking about the J I'll let it go for now. Good luck with it. Good luck with the whole GC experience and make sure to post pics along with your critique. Later.............

i have an american p with seymour duncans in it and honestly i dont think ill ever let that thing go. im used to passive pickups with high output but this active jazz has really caught my eye. im really looking for a bass that im not going to modify lol.

whats the difference between the american series and the standard series with these. it looks like they have the same electronics and hardware but i could be wrong. i wish the made the american in vintage white with a maple neck lol damn it

I owned a MIM Jazz Deluxe V for about 5 or 6 years. I thought it was a great bass for the money and simply loved it. However, it was HEAVY, as in 13.5 pounds heavy. That was my only complaint against it.

I currently own a MIA Jazz Deluxe V fretless. MUCH lighter, sounds fantastic, and tonally it's very versatile. My only beef with this one is ... well, ME. I suck at fretless and it's been sitting almost idle since I started taking lessons about a year ago. But sometimes I grab it just for a diversion and I really do like it (kinda wish it was fretted ;)).

My '90 Jazz Bass Plus (MIA) is the rough equivalent of the current American Standard Deluxe. Great player, great tone. Nice construction and has sustain out the wazoo.

My bridge pickup had gone out -- probably a while ago and I was wondering why I wasn't satisfied with the bass anymore. When it finally occurred to me that something was wrong and what it was, I replaced both pickups and have fallen in love with this bass all over again. This bass came with Lace Sensors, and I replaced them with the same.

It's amazing how in passive mode these pups can sound nice and vintage -- probably a function of refinements in the Lace Sensors over the last nineteen years. ;)

In active mode...this baby is just a little slice of nice and flexible tonal heaven to my ears.
