Hi everyone
Hope you are all good!
I've searched and searched but can't find a confirmation
I want to change my Aerodyne nut. I will buy a Tusq. I tried measuring mine but it's difficult to tell what model# I need. The 1214 or 1215...
Has anyone ever swapped with a Tusq?

Best thing to do is call them with your measurements. They are really helpful. mid no exact match they can tell you what pre-slotted “blank” to use.

I also found that they have nuts that are not shown online as well that might match (odd marketing tactic).

I teplaced mine with this one and it was a perfect fit, just need to blend the ends to the neck. Hope yhis helps….

I should mention that my aerodyne neck is from a 2007 non-export. Not sure if they are different on the exported models. I assume they are the same but thought it should be noted…

A friend of mine has a 2012 model, a regular Jazz nut was a perfect replacement, I think all Aerodynes have the regular jazz bass nut, I would say 1214 would be a drop-in replacement (with all the adjusts you would do later to fit your preferences...)
hope it helped, I also have a buddy with one from 2017 or 18, I think he added a brass nut, again, a regular jazz replacement.

I spoke to Greg at Graphtech. Normally the 1214-1215 should both fit.
I'll put it in the hands of a pro and go from there.

Also you missed the Violet colored ones. I believe those are the rarest color as even finding one picture of them is hard.

Why not just throw another pickup in it? I love the tones I get from mine with the EMG Geezer Butler pickups in it. Alternatively you could have a luthier go through the wiring and redo all the solder joints. It's bound to be a bad connection. The wiring is fairly simple.

Better yet, do both.

If you've had it in for repair that many times, it sounds like the problem isn't the wiring, but either the pot or the pickup itself. Whichever it is, you have plenty of options available to you when it comes to replacements;

1. You could keep the sound you already have by getting a set of replacement pickups and pots. The Stratosphere has pickup sets and pickup+pots sets from a couple of 2021 Aerodynes.

2. You could sift through several Precision bass pickup demos on YouTube, zero in on a brand and model you really dig and go from there.

3. You could start by replacing the entire wiring harness. If the problem persists, then you'll know for sure it's a problem with the pickup. On a side note, if it were mine, I'd get something that lets me switch between parallel and series modes to get even more capability out of the 'Dyne.

Personally, if I really like the feel and looks of a bass, a faulty pickup or pot is not enough of an issue to get rid of the entire instrument. That sounds kinda like a "throwing the baby out with the bathwater" sitch to me.

They should have replaced the pickup after the 2nd attempt — problem fixed.

I put EMG's in mine, it was easy. EMG makes it as simple as plug and play!

It sure would, but it would have to be a cream binding to better match the body's.

On the flip side, an all-maple neck with black blocks and binding (re: MIM/MIJ Geddy Lee) could make for a great visual contrast.

Seriously though, believe it or not, I only have one bass with an Aerodyne body and that's my first-ever. Sure, I've cannibalized a bunch of Aerodynes for their necks, but I've gone out of my way to only have two P/J's.

Funny that you should mention it, though, 'cuz I'm strongly considering swapping out Projekt Blue's Aerodyne neck with this one. Visually speaking, I think it'll be a nice match.

Exactly my point.. fix the problem or replace the bass, they did neither at GC. Its under Fender Warranty why the hesitation on their part plus I dont feel I should be responsible to replace the pups or wiring on my dime.

Apologize to all if my last post seemed snippy but I have become frustrated with the lack of support from GC and Fender. Was hoping someone here in this Aerodyne Club may have dealt with this issue.
I have owned a handful of Fender Basses: Mustang, Mark Hoppus, and American Professional Jazz and by far the Aerodyne is my favorite to play, listen to and look at. The tone from those Yosemite pickups are so badass!
