Fender Aerodyne Club!

Just saw that fender has marked the aerodyne down to $799. I was already considering buying one. I played a j bass at a local store and was impressed with the overall quality and the modern neck. I need a p Bass. My only hesitation is that they don't sound quite like that vintage p sound I'm looking for just based on the YouTube demos I've heard. Can anyone chime in and possibly talk me in to pulling the trigger. In the videos, they're all playing with rounds. Anyone got a new aerodyne p with some flats? How's it sound?

I have the Dolphin Gray Jazz bass and consider it well worth the original price tag. I only wish I'd held out 'til now...

I can tell you it does have a more modern tone than my other P's and J's that are purposely outfitted to reproduce that vintage Fender sound. BUT, I can't be sure that it's not because of the OEM round wound strings.
I left the original strings on so I would have 1 modern sounding bass. I CAN tell you that the line is exquisitely made. They are a work of art in construction: thin, sculpted, bound and light-ish. But they are a different beast from traditional Fender basses. Sweet player, sweet sound. Do I sound like I silly-love the new Aerodyne? I do. But I also have the necessary vintage-esque articles. I'd highly recommend jumping at one of these for 800 bucks!

I'm firmly in the "If the 'Feel' is good, grab it. 'Sound' can be altered." camp. Given that discount, you could set it up with almost any P-pup + strings you like and still be saving a considerable chunk of change...even more so if you get a pickup through the TB Classifieds. Add in the fact that you know you need a Precision, well...it sounds like easy math to me. ;)

I have the aerodyne P in hot rod burst and compared to my AM pro ii precision I have exactly the same sentiment as you regarding that vintage sound. Granted a few tweaks to my eq and it sounds good. I'm no expert but it's an amazing Bass and especially for the current price of $799. The smooth satin neck is by far my favorite thing. I wish I had the money to grab the dolphin gray or chocolate burst jazz. It was close between the green metallic and the hot rod burst but ultimately my style of music lends itself more to darker colors. Both of my P Basses still have the stock fender rounds that came with them. I have a set of La Bellas waiting to go on the pro ii and the aerodyne will stay strung with rounds so I have one of each ready to go. Hope this helps but even if it doesn't I guarantee you won't be disappointed with a new aerodyne for $799!

I have the blue Jazz, and bought it for $400 more than today's price, and I'm not even mad about it. It is an incredible bass, and really has become my #1.

I'm about 99% sure I'm going to buy the white Precision by the end of the night. Not only will it be a great pairing with the Aerodyne Jazz, but it will also look awesome with the Fender Japan Elemental I got earlier this year!

$799 For a Japanese Fender with a Rosewood board..... Absolutely a steal in today's current market. I wish I could grab a Jazz at this price but just picked up a Thunderbird a few weeks ago so no more "fun" funds for awhile.

Welp, they got me. Twice!

I got the white Precision, and then I looked around a little more and saw some other stuff on sale, too. I've wanted a short scale to goof around with, but don't like the traditional black or red options. I had never seen this purple available before, and I figured that for less than two bills, now was the time to jump! I'm stoked!

Did they charge for shipping?

I've been keeping an eye out for a short scale for a bit now and saw that bronco and almost jumped myself. Not sure how I feel about it overall quality wise and another $100-$200 gets into some quality competition like say the classic vibe mustangs. Let us know how you like it once you get it.

Nope. Free shipping over $50.

I did see that now Sweetwater is selling them for the same price. I did not see that yesterday. If I had, I would have bought it there, and picked the one I wanted, as well as taken advantage of 6 months free financing. :/
Just looked at the Sweetwater site, and for at least the hot rod burst, they're special ordering them from Fender. So, no choice available...at least for that model.

Ends tonite...........To bad for me I just bought a Troy Sanders P and already have two Aero's. Temping but gotta hold back, I really want that white P. Hopefully Fender will do 40% off sale again.

Yeah I'm fighting really hard at not picking up the Chocolate Burst Jazz for $719 but the fact these are blown out at this price and in my experience still in stock at many online retailers tells me they just aren't selling. I know how business works and understand that we're likely not to see these at this price or lower again but I've been wrong before and if they were, I'd gladly take being wrong and having a new aerodyne as I doubt I'm strong enough to resist twice.

I say buy it! That chocolate burst jazz is amazing looking. I would have bought the Jazz but I needed a P. I got a chance to play the Jazz though and couldn't believe the quality and how good it sounded.

I just started playing a year ago. Since have acquired 5 basses. 2 Ps , 2 Js and a T(hunderbird). Traded an acoustic guitar I never played straight up for my Aerodyne P last month and I just got an Epiphone Thunderbird that now seems to be getting discontinued as Sweetwater has removed the listing for the Tobacco Sunburst. I'm also currently between jobs but truthfully not being able to swing it just makes me appreciate all my current basses even more. Being a somewhat financially responsible adult is pretty lame at times.
