No differences from what I can tell. Virtually brand new and deserving of the "mint" condition as described.
It's hard for me to say because I play all J basses except for a PJ so I don't have much to compare it to but yes it sounds very bright with the tone all the way but I'm attributing that to having brand new rounds on. We'll see how the flats sound. The pickups have a high output compared to my other passive basses (which I like). I was surprised by how hot they were.

I have a set of La Bellas waiting to go on my AM Pro II P but I rather enjoyed the stock strings when I first played it and even more so now they have deadened so I still have yet to change them. I definitely prefer dead strings. The ones on the AM pro II are

I have a set of Flats waiting to go on my AM Pro II but the stock rounds it came with sounded alright when I got it last summer and now they sound even better. I've definitely come to realize I like dead and or flat strings. I believe the stock strings are Fender 7250. Are the ones on the Aerodyne different? Granted theirs more variation between the rosewood and maple board and the different pickups but I really think the source for me is the strings.
Forgive me if you've already heard this suggestion of mine, but the D'Addario XT coated strings might be worth looking at. When I put together this Jazz bass with some Fender Custom Shop '60s pickups, I wanted a modern sound as well. Specifically, I wanted enough growl to be really "Jazzy", but without a ton of harsh "clang...clang...clang".
Congratulations and welcome to the club! That's a beauty and I know it's gonna be a great player for you. I recently had a chance to play one and it was really impressive. Amazing bass at any price, but especially what they've been going for lately!

You win this round. I couldn't get your internet voice out of my head and after a few alcohol beers I decided to pull the trigger on the Dolphin Grey Jazz. I absolutely love my P more and more each time I play it and I can't wait to see how well the J plays. For $635 shipped it's a great deal and also over $100 less than I paid for my player series J making it the cheapest Fender I've paid for and when I use that comparison it's a no brainer. Absolutely crazy the quality to value ratio on MIJ.You need it. Trust me.

For .839 of a second I was committed to buying myself another Jazz to use as a mod platform... then I heard the shrieks and screams of my loving wife in my head (more realistically, that soul-crushing look of frustration) and decided to just go home and enjoy the P bass. 
The third and final bass from the left are both very intriguing to me. Is that a P with a jazz body? Parts build or something Fender offered? Also what configuration is that seafoam jazz? First time seeing those for me.HAHA! My evil plan for you to be happy worked!
Yea, at either $600 or $800 these Aerodynes are just a fantastic value. In fact, I was at lunch with some friends yesterday and my car almost took me to MIRC, where your Dolphin is shipping from, to see if they would sell me another directly. I was less than a mile from their warehouse, lol! I actually paused at the stop sign to either turn left towards MIRC or right towards home, where my white Aerodyne P bass had just been delivered while I was at lunch.
@DrThumpenstein your prediction was right! Happiness is what this bass provides! It feels and sounds great. Really punchy and present. This is a lot more "modern" sounding of a P than the Aerodyne Jazz is. The J is like a cleaned up and pleasant classic J sound to me. This P is... it's not Duncan QP punchy, but like maybe halfway between an Original 62 P pickup and the QP. A lot more upper midrange and top end than a "vintage P" tone. I really like it!
Fit, build, neck, frets, hardware, etc are all just as great as the Jazz. The ONLY Bummer is that there are still swirl or "buzz" marks in the finish on the top of the body where they didn't spend enough time with the finer grit sandpaper disc before moving to buffing. It's super faint, and I doubt anyone else will ever notice... but I notice. lol! To be fair, I spent 3 years buffing and then inspecting guitars for a living, so I am trained to look for that stuff. On a white finish, it's basically impossible to see unless you are actually looking for it.
I haven't had time to take any prettier pics of it "posing" with its siblings, so pardon these sloppy shots. Might post a legit NBD in a few days after I spend more time with it, and can better compare/contrast with its other Japanese brethren living at my house.
