Fender Aerodyne Club!

Ive had my Aerodyne for about 6 months or so and I still cant "love" it. Lots of people love this bass, I cant' seem to get into it. I'm gonna put a Babicz bridge and some Rotosound strings to hopefully liven it up. Last resort will be new pickups. Just like my P basses so much better. I will keep trying though
I ended up putting DiMarzio pups on mine. Much beefier tone now. My bridge saddles drift. Bought a Babciz, but mine has a recessed pocket that the bridge fits in, sent the Babciz back to the store. I play my Carvin Jazz clone more if I want a 4 string, but I still like the Aerodyne. Waiting to see what come of the custom hipshot bridged mentioned above. This may be the solution if they will make it in black. Or I'll send the whole thing to a powder coating shop.

This arrived today from Japan, happy doesn't come close

I keep forgetting to snap a few. The way this week is shaping up, it likely will not happen soon. Look at my other pics and imagine that it's a tad longer and fills the entire rout exactly. :D

So while you're shooting....

Do you have any more shots like this that show more of what the bass looks like with no guts?

Is it fotoflame or a veneer of wood on top?

I have the same model as this coming soon.....

Got mine this AM. It was marked "delivered" Thursday and I had to open an "issue" with UPS. It magically appeared on the front porch this AM. So far, so good. I pulled the original strings off and put a set of new GHS flats. I am not impressed with the P tone on it's own. The J tone is less impressive. However, the P tone with a wee bit of J added is pretty nice. The action was sky-high and I just started lowering that and added one little twist to add some relief. Intonation is set. It is not as light as I had expected with all the sculpting but it is certainly not a heavy-weight either. I'd like to take it to practice tomorrow but the place has a ton of crappy fluorescent lights that will generate a bunch of noise. I know, because I have brought "new" basses to this space before.

The biggest issue that I have is the jack is super loose and the cable does not lock in. No way could I gig this bass until I fix that.

Hi all.
I live in Australia. I know I can still buy the Black Aerodynes here, but I have gas for a red one. They were never sold here though.
Looking on ebay , there are some Japanese businesses selling used ones & also new ones as well.
So, does anyone know if it's safe to buy from them? Do they really still make them in Japan?

I would ideally be looking for a red Jazz pickguard model, with P&J pickups.

I already have black basses. Buying another is just madness.

Is there a Gotoh Res-O-Lite that is a direct replacement for the Aerodyne tuning machines? I have a non-export precision if it matters.

Actually, I really want an x-tender or d-tuner on there so maybe a Hipshot would be a better choice.

Does anyone know what models fit?

Never mind - it is the BT10 from Hipshot. Got one on the way now.
