Just make sure you get the correct one, the '57 pickguard has less screws (11?) than the 60's (13?) style basses from what I recall.

Fender American Original Precision 50s vs 60s - Sound differencies

Just make sure you get the correct one, the '57 pickguard has less screws (11?) than the 60's (13?) style basses from what I recall.
Dead thread maybe ... I like the 50s better and the fact it being brighter with the tone open it makes it more versatile ... with tone rolled off they are very similar, and now ... being a secondary thing .. the 50s looks great!
you know what the sound difference is between these 2 P basses is? nothing...cause they are both P basses.
And a p bass sounds like a p bass.
I own the AO 50s now. I sold my AO 60s last fall. Both are excellent sounding and built basses. The only issue being a factor with these 2 basses is the raised poles on the 50s bass. They make the A string sound louder than the E string and you have the adjust the pickup height to make up for this by raising the E side higher than the A side.
And a p bass sounds like a p bass.
