Fender American Original Series Successor?

Fender has done precision necks with large TV (68-76) logos on these basses:
Maple board
Steve Harris
FSR Antigua
Dee Dee Ramone

Rosewood board
Nate Mendel
Mark Hoppus
Tomomi
MIJ Traditional 70s P

Yeah but Fender cut corners on some of those including the Geddy Lee MIM jazz. The hi mass bridges used on the Nate Mendel, Steve Harris or Geddy Lee all use zinc saddles instead of what it should be... brass. It does make a difference in tone. Of course, if I had bought one I'd have swapped out that bridge and put on a standard threaded Fender bridge.

I'm just waiting for a vintage P bass in olympic white with the 7.25 radius.

Yeah but they're signature models and those guys both use Badass II bridges. I actually swapped the Fender bridges on my Steve Harris and Geddy Lee basses with actual BA2's which have always been made of Zinc. The Fender himass ones have a brass plate and zinc saddles.

Fender sells both. Why they are using the zinc ones on their now expensive sig basses is beyond me.

Because it's supposed to be a copy of the Badass 2, which is made of all Zinc. They offer ther FENDER branded one that comes on the Steve Harris with either Zinc or Brass saddles, but the Geddy bridge is Zinc saddles only.

Poor Vintera .. with that pau ferro boards you can't even look at them in my opinion … MIJ instruments they buy black rosewood boards ravaging trees in south east Asia and that's how it should be done
PS at least trees can always be replanted …

I agree with the pau ferro. It just doesn't seem right to me. I have a Road worn Classic 60s MIM jazz and considered buying the Flea bass (a MIM with a rosewood fretboard) just to put that neck on my 60s jazz but the Flea bass is 1500 and just can't seem to justify doing that swap for that price. I don't know if I should just sell the 60s jazz and wait for this new vintage series to come out?

How do you like flatwound strings on an AO electric bass?

Fender AO '60s P-bass.
Tone 40%; amp bass 75%, highs 50%, mids 25%

Successors arrived .. AV II .. the P-bass pickup seems to be rather high-pitched this time.
