I’m looking to replace my Am Pro’s truss rod nut and can’t seem to find one anywhere.

Apparently I’m after fender part # 004-8688-000 but I’ve only managed to find one eBay link which doesn’t ship to Europe, so that’s the end of that option.

If anyone could link me one that would be much appreciated!

Otherwise I guess I should reach out to Fender, but it seems strange to me they don’t sell them anywhere.

may i ask why you'd need to replace that part?

anyway a quick check shows me fender is still using that same nut on the new basses (had to be sure, i've seen spoke-wheel nuts on too many new ones) so it should still be available somehow

Thanks for your input.

I want to replace it as the edges of the current nut are slowly rounding out. I’ve never been too keen on the ball-end truss rod tool that Fender provides so have found a better tool and wanted to start fresh with a new nut. The current nut is still useable though.

It’s strange as I literally have only found one place that’s selling the nut and they don’t ship the product outside the US:

Seems odd to me they wouldn’t sell them anywhere.

I reached out to Fender and they suggested the following product number #0038443000, but I can see that’s not the right part. They also sent me the following link, but it’s obviously not correct:

The search continues!

I found some more info on that alternative that Fender suggested:
Fender Bass Truss Rod Nut 12-28 Thread for MIM 5 String - Glued to Music

The crucial thing here is the thread size. This one is 12-28. I see from the ebay link that the one you’re looking for has a ‘large thread size’. I’m not 100% sure that they are the same, but I think most truss rods are 10-32, which is smaller that 12-28, so that checks out. So it seems likely that Fender’s alternative should work. I don’t see any reason to doubt them in this case.

Thanks, I did wonder that. Whether I can order something else, as long as it has the right sized thread. If anyone else can confirm this, that would be great. Still seems odd to me though that it's virtually impossible to find the same sized nut they use on the current Pro basses.
