I just picked one of these up at Sam ash for $1750. I just sold my F Bass BN5 because it was too heavy for me. And, F Bass is the best out there in my opinion.
With that being said, I took it to the tech counter, tweaked the neck because it had more room, lowered the action twice and BOOM. I bought it.
I am way happy to spend under $2K for a bass. It played better than all the Ultras I’ve played. So, I am a real happy camper.

Had to get a clear pick guard on my roasted pine Jazz V. Gotta show off that grain, also love the look of the exposed routing.
My only Jazz Am Pro II complaint is that the pickups also hum when both are turned all the way up. I thought that two single coil pickups turned all the way up are supposed to cancel the hum. Is this normal?
That is not normal. Mine were dead quiet out of the box when both up. Now that it's fully shielded, I can solo either pickup and remain noiseless.
Definitely not normal. I have 2 Am Pro II Jazz basses and neither has that issue. You should get a tech to troubleshoot that for you.
Kinda thought so. I would take it back to the shop where I bought it, but it was Sam Ash, and, well I’ll take it elsewhere.
Luckily, it is not causing me too much stress. The bass plays so surprisingly well, that a little hum is not a deal killer.
Ok, thanks. I def thought so… I just though the ‘new styled’ pickups were just that way.
I haven't needed to go into music stores since covid because I am more than satisfied with my setup..I was more than astonished to see that the price tag on a regular USA P-bass was a whopping $2400 CAD.
I'm not posting here to whine about the price (obviously Fender is a business, and I'm sure these basses are immaculate )..I think its more exasperation...I'm guessing that the premium price tag you are paying for now is the Fender USA on the headstock, and the rich heritage that these basses have...Essentially though, these basses haven't changed that much in 60 years.
I'm glad that I already have my Fenders, ..for that $1750 USD, you could pick yourself up a fantastic used instrument in the bass classifieds.
