Fender American Standard Jaguar Bass

I've had this bass 4 years. It plays amazing, maybe the best of all of my guitars. It's not where my ears are tonally these days, although it does sound fantastic. I got it to be a P-bass essentially. Anybody want to talk me out of selling it?

I’ve been in a long GAS situation for the past 7 or 8 years. I’ve bought/sold around 45 basses. After I got my white US Jaguar a little over a year ago, the GAS has slowed waaay down. I pretty much only buy/sell/trade pedals now rather than basses.

I did convert my Jaguar to be completely passive with just a volume and blend control and added luminlay side dots. The stock pearloid ones weren’t very visible. Other than that, one of my favorite basses I’ve owned.

I don't want to do extensive mods on this thing to make it keepable, I think it's great how it is, but maybe for someone else.

If you sell it and regret it you'll have a hard time finding a replacement. But if you really want it gone you'll get very good resale and maybe fund other gear you want more. I flipped an Ovation Magnum to get my Jaguar and I still miss that bass, although I don't regret doing it.

I'm very late to the party on this post! I've been using a MIJ Jaguar in hot rod red as my go to bass for about the last three years. However, I was always envious of the American Standard Jaguar's P pick up. Good news is that I just acquired one this week and the tone is absolutely KILLER! I love both my Jags

The owner of the studio I record at has one. Have plinked around on it a couple of times (unplugged). The neck feels good on it. I remember seeing these at GC on occasion several years ago.

If you like a good quality Jazz bass neck then you'll love the feel of these. The MIJ version is slightly neck divey with it's large, open gear vintage tuners (sorted by a good guitar strap for me). The MIA version has the lightweight tuners which makes a real difference to that though and also has a hi-mass bridge and string through body which (to my ear) massively improves the sustain. Both brilliant quality basses but the MIA just edges it for me. I'd highly recommend either of these basses. I'm actually thinking to add a hi-mass bridge to the MIJ to give it a little bump up.
The pick ups on both basses are absolutely killer. Superb tones and massive variety.
