Nice picture (and shoes)It just arrived! And first impressions are VERY good. It has a bell-like tone - less aggressive than my AO 60s P but more characterful.
It's the first time I have seen a 63 AVRI up close; the finish is really something else. This one is from April 2013.View attachment 5378626 View attachment 5378627
Yep, Faded Sonic. Very happy with this bass so far - I never thought I would find one. I cannot get over the paintwork on this bass - VERY different look and feel to my American Original P. It does have a real vintage feel.@facetsquared

Congratulations! This is one of the few "basses that got away" in my life -- basses I regret not buying. Foolishly, I thought these would be available indefinitely and I waited too long to get one. I hope you have many years of enjoyment from it!It just arrived! And first impressions are VERY good. It has a bell-like tone - less aggressive than my AO 60s P but more characterful.

Thank you! I need to get some TI flats on it and I will be all set.Congratulations! This is one of the few "basses that got away" in my life -- basses I regret not buying. You're right, the output isn't as aggressive as some other p-basses. I noticed the same thing.
Oh yeah!Picked up a '13 that matches my same year 64 AVRI. Really great condition. 8.6 lbs and will throw some gotohs on to reduce weight a bit. I'm not a giant fan of the 63 pickup but will leave it for now. I have an embarrassing number of avri basses, though this is my first 63.

You own one of these rare creatures in seminole red and plan to refinish it? You're a mean bass player and should be dispossessed! Here is mine 2013 seminole red.
Never liked the colour. It's now getting a refenish in burgundy mist.

The only red collor that i like is fiesta red.Sorry !
How can you like Fiesta Red more than Seminole Red? I have two basses in Fiesta Red - a Bass VI and a Duck Dunn. Maybe I refinish them in Seminole Red to restore the balance of this world? The only red collor that i like is fiesta red.
I got it in 2013 and this one was the best sounding/playing p bass then and it was a b-stock. That's the reason why i got this bass instead of another collor. I never bonded with the collor. And yeah the collor is bit rare but not that super rare. It's not that i gonna refinish a custom collor pre cbs p bass.
Do you really have a problem with it? Is it weird that i like fiesta red and not seminole red?How can you like Fiesta Red more than Seminole Red? I have two basses in Fiesta Red - a Bass VI and a Duck Dunn. Maybe I refinish them in Seminole Red to restore the balance of this world?
