You haters are @$$holes. Why come into this thread and insult, of course music like GNR is acceptable to rag on but if someone ever insults your jazz fusion, solo bassists and such we get a boatload of crap on how good you think they are.

GNR wasn't glam, they were hard rock, I don't see GNR wearing nail polish and makeup, they just looked bad ass.

To those insulting Duff playing, seriosly whats wrong with you ? He didn't stay at the same position all the time, his lines were simple but they sounded GREAT something doesn't have to be technically stunning to sound good. Also if you compare his lines to a lot of other rock bass players his stuff is about as simple. Nobody insults Mcartney's lines even though they are fairly simple why because it fitted the music perfect and sounded GOOD.

As for the bass yah it's simple but Duff played a SIMPLE bass, I do agree even though I'm a fairly big Duff fan I'm not sure if his bass is unique enough to have a sig.

just so we're clear, duff's first FJBS was white not black, he got the black a few years later. He uses seymore-duncan hotstack pickups. personally (as an obessed GNR/Duff fan) i'd say screw the sig model and get a real 80's issue and replace the pickups. mine is an 87 FJBS black (just like his black one) with the duncans and all.... some say im overly obessive, i might have to agree :D

Listen, I want to be clear (again) even though I think I was pretty clear before.

GnR and Duff M are not my kind of music. Saying they bridged the gap between Winger and Nirvana - for me - is like saying, "Well, horse manure bridges the gap between tiger droppings and chicken crap."

It's still doo-doo.

But see, this whole musical 'taste' thing - it's personal. You like GnR? Good! I'm glad they made records you liked! My opinion on them doesn't mean you're wrong. Settle down!

I just think Duff M is an odd choice for a signature bass that appears to be a reissue of those MIJ Power Jazz basses we loved so much back in the 80s. Not bad basses! Some people really like them. I had one. Who didn't?

And if anyone wants to have a go at my little wise-ass rockabilly band, go nuts. We've packed it in anyway.
