Fender Bass Amps?

I got this head a few weeks ago, and the more I'm getting used to the quirks of the passive tone stack, the more I'm loving this amp. 400 watts @ 8 ohms into the OBC115 = stupid loud. I'm thinking of trying some different 12AX7s just for kicks, but I really don't need to, this sounds great as is!

I would love to rock that, I bet that sounds awesome!

Thanks, man, it's pretty darn good. Another OBC115 would make it truly awesome!

I'm thinking of dropping a 5751 into the V1 slot to get a little cleaner tone out of channel one, but I'm not sure if it would decrease the output volume, so I'm holding off until the tube gurus lend some advice on another thread I started.

I must agree with groooooove. I found that the rumble 100 15" is just OK-sounding, it's got plenty of deep end for home use, but the preamp, IMHO, is very sterile and flat sounding. I plugged my POD straight into the FX return, and it really sounded killer. I really enjoyed the 100watts (I live in an appt., so 100 is about the upper limit of sane), and the 15" could produce as much treble as I would ever want. However, I also found it very boomy. If I got one, I would want to use a different preamp with it.

Love my Fender Bassman 250. It's a solid amp.

I find the Bassman combos to be inherently mid-scooped and that's why I'm selling mine. Anybody else think that?

Do you have the contour knob on AT ALL? I keep mine off and boost the mids slightly, and my sound cuts like nothing else. Especially with some new Blue Steels on my Spector.

My only problem with it is that none of my effects. (After countless hours of twiddling) sound any good through the effects loop. It handles them just fine running before the iunput though.

That looks sweet! What year was that made? I bet it sounds stellar!

It's a 1998 Fender Custom Shop Rumble Bass head. They only made these for a couple of years, I believe.

The cabinet is an old Peavey 215D center slot port that I got for $40. A friend and I recovered it in Fender blonde Tolex, turned it on its side and installed a pair of Electro-Voice 15BX bass speakers and Fender hardware. It sounds pretty amazing.
