Fender Bass VI: Anything new?

Basically, like the title says. I know some of you ladies and gents are relatively well connected. Been gigging Squier Bass VI's for a while now and would love if my next step up in the Fender Family weren't all the way to the custom shop...It technically could make sense for me, but I'm bellyaching over it regardless.

If someone in the know could put my soul at ease with nudge/wink and a "it's coming", that'd be awesome.

Otherwise, the Schecter looks really nice!

SRC6 is a great playing and sounding instrument. I love mine but it' really ugly.

Compared to a VI? Nope, just a bit plain. The VI looks like it was cobbled together by a crew of drunken monkeys from parts they got from a dump. And yes, I've owned one as well as the OLP Silhouette.
I'd have my SRC6s (2x) over the others, but the OLP before the VI.

I wish they would come up with a Mexican version that’s nitro, slab rosewood/clay dotted or even offer maple, upgraded electronics and hardware.

if you can find them, there are the pawn shop and mij versions but even those prices are jacked up now.

a vintera version that's era accurate but at a $7-800 price point would be nice.

If you can find/afford a Fender Steve Bailey six string your problems would be solved. I’ve been looking for one for about a year. Every time one comes up it sells before I can move.

^^ If you guys are after a Fender style, why not make one from Warmoth bits? Surely cheaper than a US original and can be built to your specs.

Good in theory. I've been researching that idea just this past week. Haven't contacted Warmth myself but forum consensus is their Bass VI bodies are routed for Strat style single coils and they won't have it any other way.

Of course they're not the only rodeo in town. If OP wants a vintage spec Bass VI with Jag pups and 7.25" radius fretboard (I know I do) a custom build seems to only way to go. Not holding my breath waiting for a new Fender with those specs.

Get it from the horse's mouth. I'd be surprised if that was the case as they rout other bodies with all sorts of pickup combos and I'm sure the CNC maps will all be in there.

I'm just window shopping so far. Only got a Squier VM Bass VI a couple of weeks. Doing all the standard stuff to get it playable, rewired, new pots and pickups, Labella strings, Staytrem etc.

I've taken it to rehearsal a couple of times and really like the way it kinda sits above the kick in it's own slot, while still having a fat/rounded sound. If I can get used to the string spacing it's a possible main player. At that point I'll probably hit up a local Aussie builder for a nice neck and body in nitro with matching headstock and transfer all the mods off the Squier body.

Still a fair way off pulling that trigger though

Is there any sort of list anywhere or communities specifically for the " Bass VI" styled 6 string bass? Wanting to pick one up but it's really hard to research because of the naming convention of this style of bass. Im curious what's out there these days for an intermediate quality Bass VI.

Digging up an old thread, but Nash Guitars just shipped their first Bass VI out to Thunder Road Guitars in Portland, OR. It’s nitro finished and almost half the price of a custom shop guitar.

I would highly recommend the last series of MIJ Fender Bass VI from the early 2010s.
I had the mexican pawnshop version before. The pawnshop is a high quality instrument, but I've missed the controls, the original pickup combination and esp. the bass-kill switch of the original Bass VI.

The MIJ has a graphite reinforced neck and is the only version with the correct bridge. Even the US custom-shop version doesn't have the original bridge. They asked Fender Japan for help, but Fender Japan rejected to help
There is one on reverb for under 1.000,-. Really worth it. It was way over 1.000,- new and the Pawnshop version was about 850,- new.
