Maybe you don't want to build one, or you don't have the skills or time and you just want a well made finished instrument built by a well respected luthier.
Maybe you want a nitro finish and/or some level of relicing.
Maybe you want some level to warranty and support for peace of mind.

I've seen people say similar things like "but I could buy 5 Squiers for that" and you could, but then by the time you've upgrade the bridge, the trem, the pickups, the tuners etc you could get 2 Squiers, not 5. And then it still wouldn't be a USA built nitro finished instrument that has been set up perfectly by a great luthier.

The original post asked are there other options coming that are less of a jump than going to a custom shop instrument that are still a traditional Bass VI, I thought this fit that bill nicely...

^^ US built and nitro finish are massively overrated and I wouldn't pay a premium for either. Set ups are something every serious player should know how to do, and providing you're not a moronic monkey, a DIY assembled instrument from good parts like Warmoth will likely not require much of a set up, so no much cost.
I still think it's massively overpriced.
I'd rather have my SRC6 or the OLP Silhouette copy I used to have over any Bass VI or clone.

Well thank you for sharing your personal opinions, diverse views are important in any discussion.
If like me you do value classic looking, nitro finished, USA hand built instruments then the Nash is a cheaper option than the Fender Custom Shop…

I'm pretty sure somewhere on this site this question has been asked, but is there any place I can buy a set of tape wound strings for my Fender Bass VI?
