^^^^^^^ I would add the Dimension to the list. I think it's a great instrument that could stand the test of time; played one and loved it!

Fender basses; what's new for 2015?

Found one of these - and the matching P-Bass - at my dealer today here in Austria. So I highly doubt they are limited to 25 each.
They have indeed all the features of the American Special line, but are priced the same as the Standard. Plus the grooves in the grain run really deep - the body feels a bit like a cheese-grater to me.
Oh well, there goes the GAS...
Yeah - I haven't had the change to try one. I think given the lineup I mentioned it would actually be easier for them to promote a new model. The Dimension currently just gets lost in the shuffle of the 1000 other variations on the classics.

Just saw a P in the UK, so it's almost certainly 25 in the US. Also one of the new brown wood PJ basses (good matching grain on that one) and a Squier Dimension.
Really nice bass. All 3 EQ knobs had quite a wide sweep and centre indents, unfortunately I had to use a guitar amp so couldn't tell the sound accurately. Neck felt P-width, glossy but not sticky, and very smooth. Action and frets felt nice - apparently it was like this out of the box, which is a surprise. I'd guess 9lbs or so, and well balanced. Even through the guitar amp, it sounded big with a good low end. I can see a lot of tonal variety in that pickup.
I would probably put an active/passive switch in it, but its definitely an instrument I'm considering.

Tried my local (national chain) store yesterday. They had not heard of it and it did not look like it was available to them..

I figured that might happen. Glad I didn't wait for it.
There are a lot of desirable models that never see the light of day here.
It's a real shame, and Fender should be embarrassed about it.
