Fender Bassman 100T - chapter 2

I finally actually pulled the trigger. Been playing with it for a while in the shop, and have been putting it into my shopping cart at Amazon (and taking it back out again) for quite a while, but finally actually did it. It should be here Monday! Can't wait to hear it through my PF-115HE. I even already bought new preamp tubes for it, still debating on the right power tubes.

I largely have Tom Bowlus to thank for this purchase, as his glowing review ("best of the best") was a prime factor in the decision. I chose this over the Super Bassman for the DI's ability to be post power tubes in silent mode, and because I didn't have enough scratch for the Super. I just hope it's loud enough...

Congratulations, tekdriver. You won't regret it. To my mind this and the Super Bassman 300 are the best standard production line amps on the market currently. FWIW I have now sold both my SVT vr and Orange AD200 heads since acquiring my Bassmans, primarily because the Fenders are so reliable and versatile (although a Heritage Svt still tempts).
I have to say also that the neo 610 cab continues to amaze me.
I have been personally responsible for getting quite a few people into these heads in New Zealand. One person had a bias issue which was easily and quickly fixed (it was an early one) and to my knowledge there have been no other problems. You can buy with confidence.

I've never met a single woofer cab of any type that I was happy gigging as my only cab; and I've played some really great single woofer cabs.
ymmv of course.

I'm pretty happy with a good 1x15" usually. And two good 115's would do me for any gig pretty much.
One for smaller gigs, two for the big uns.
But that'd mean getting rid of my NV412.... ain't gonna happen anytime soon that's fer sho :p
I also 'could' get rid of my 2 AE112's but... Why? They sound so good, are so light & easy to move.
But with only 100w I'd want more than a single 15 mostly. When I use my Fender Studio Bass (200w) and one 115 cab, it's pretty easy to get into 'hairy territory' - which is great fun, but I'd need more cab to keep it in clean headroom areas. Which is what I mostly need.
A 100T would sure be cool. Then I'd have Fender 100w, 200w & 300w tube bass amps :D:thumbup:

They almost look like toys, but they really deliver the tone and get plenty loud. They are a great match for tube heads and so easy to load in and out.

Now I'm searching for Fender grill cloth so they will match the head :)

Those 210 av cabs sound like an interesting option. Having posted that I did not like the gk neo 115 iii with the 100t I recently had to remove the TI flats on my jazz and put on stainless roundwounds for a gig. The GK cab came alive with the extra top attack of a new set of rounds. Rethinking my small cab options now.

Yep, you''re right there Chef. After a few years of flats on both the precision and jazz I think I may be leaving the rounds on the jazz for a while. I am quite enjoying the change in both tone and the extra tension, contrary to my expectations. Of course the precision will always have flats :)

Well I have nothing but compliments about the SVT210-AV's.. 26 lbs, sealed, and sound great. I'm going to use 1 with the 100T next weekend for two different outdoor residential patio party gigs on Fri and Sat night. One can handle the 100T easily, and two could handle the 300T.

The 100T with two was unreal. TONE!!

My replacement 100T will be here Friday. Putting the Amperex Bugleboy in V1, RCA blackplate in V2, USA 12AT7 in driver, and a matched quad of NOS GE 6L6GC's.

I put those preamp tubes in my first one last weekend, and man did it sound phenomenal. The GE 6L6's should be the icing on the cake :)
